Love the gifts! Hopefully it will be one of you in near future at least being another time in the year makes it more unique than getting proposed to on a day that a friend doesThanks to the people who have posted competitions, good luck to everyone, and well done to the winners!:beer:0

All the presents sound great - I'm not going to list mine on here in case it gives too much away about me!!! But I did get some fab stuff - OH and I had set ourselves limits so wasnt expecting much but he did fantastically well with the budget - very impressed!!
On the other hand Christmas is starting to get me down....So much for me giving people advice on not feeling unhappy....feeling it myself a little today
Absolutely sick of reading about engagements/weddings and pregancies on facebook.... think I need to take myself off it for a bit, never ever gives me anything to feel good about, just stuff to depress me!! One of my friends on FB got engaged yesterday, they've been together all of 5 mins!! Granted they are a bit older than me, but its still annoying. (I'm happy for them obviously but stilll.....grrrrrrr) :rotfl:
Not a great day either as just feeling massively fat and frumpy too after 3 solid days of eating - need to get that January 1st motivation to lose some weight....now if only I had a special date that I could use a goal!! Lol :rotfl:0 -
Awwww cheer up hugs being sent your way xx
I feel huge too I weighed myself yesterday and i have put on 1/2 stone in 2 days! Yay go me! Haha. On the healthy eating wagon today, there is too much choc, crisps etc to eat before dieting so gonna do it in moderation
You could always start dieting just incase you have a sudden wedding to get in shape forxx

Lol :rotfl:Sending some hugs your way hun, that's exactly why I usually end up deactivating mine over Xmas and New Year. I don't wish to deny anyone their happiness but it can get a bit too much. Fortunately I have only seen one so far and it was really on the cards so wasn't a big surprise although I wonder if there will be more at New Year? Whilst I love facebook for keeping in touch with friends who live overseas it's so easy to compare your life with those of others which is unhealthy and can make you feel so down.
Roll on the new year

Congratulations to everyone who got engaged over Christmas!
I had a surprisingly good Christmas as it turned out - amazingly my brothers-in-law didn't say a word about engagements in four days, although I did have to bite my tongue a couple of times so as not to say, "I'm surprised it's been x days and you still haven't asked me when OH is going to propose"! There were a couple of moments when I thought 'this might be it' but I was OK that it wasn't. In an odd way I think not spending Christmas together helped because there wasn't that same feeling of 'is it going to happen?' that there might have been otherwise, and it's been a good set-up for going into the New Year as whilst it would be lovely to get a New Year's proposal I'm not focussing on it so much and just looking forward to spending NYE with my OH and our friends.
I was very worried about looking at Facebook and another forum I go on in case of any Christmas proposals, but there don't seem to have been any. I know that makes me sound horrible but I know if there had been any it would probably have upset me and I quite like being in my current state of mind on this..."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
Ok so no chance of a NYE proposal.... we normally spend new years eve on our own so I was thinking it may have been a perfect opportunity - but hes just asked me tonight to text our friends to see what they are up to. I know he would never do it with an audience so I will stop thinking about it now until I bring up the discussion in January :-)0

Glad to hear you had a great Christmas Minerva and I am liking the sound of your current frame of mind :rotfl:
Squirrel - unless he does want an audience?I have given up trying to guess if/when it will be, I am really looking forward to 2012, I have my underwater photography course in March, then we are off to Kenya where we have a week on the beach and three days on Safari and then I have the Maldives in June and hopefully I will sit my final exams next year, oh and I will be debt free
:T
Is it naughty that I am already hatching a plan? I desperately want to go to the Maldives in peak season (Feb/March) and obviously we can't go this year so realistically it has to be 2013, normally we go May/June as it's rainy season and prices are considerably lower. So I need to be able to justify the cost (Although we will go to a much more budget island so the price difference won't be huge) and my initial thought was it could be our honeymoon :rotfl:. Of course I haven't told OH this yet, I will wait till we get back from Kenya and then plant the seed of going to the Maldives the following March and if he hasn't done the deed by the time we come back from the Maldives in June then I will just be upfront about it and see what he says!?
Very happily married on 10th April 2013
