I got engaged yesterday too! . I've been with my OH for 5 years and thought it was never going to happen, despite it being my main topic of conversation for the past 2 years :rotfl: Got the shock of my life at midnight when we decided to exchange gifts and he went down on one knee.:eek:

So happy and excited!:j:j. I keep looking at my ring too!:D

Although I haven't posted on this thread, I have been reading it from the start and it helped me see I wasn't some obseesed weirdo dying to get engaged. The way I was feeling was normal.

Im another winter proposal. My oh proposed on Christmas eve so Christmas could remain traditional and meaningful, we had always said not Christmas so was a nice surprise

I really enjoyed Christmas Day with my family yesterday but the day passed with no major occurences!!

My OH was talking about Boxing Day last night and the meaning of its name. I think he actually knows where it comes from but was joking about watching a 'boxing game' I replied and said, no sweetie, youre supposed to give your loved ones a present that comes in a little box!" hint hint.....

No such luck, the only box involved today is the one in the corner of the room that he is glued too...!!

Congrats to all you ladies that it happened to though - I'm a teensy bit jealous (not helped by the fact that Ive seen some engagements on facebook too) but happy at the same time!! All the best with the planning of the weddings!!!! :T

Thanks Squirrels, brighton Belle, Verandi & Ally also for your kind words when I was feeling down. I think I had got myself so tired/stressed out with Christmas and trying to get everything done that I couldn't see the wood for trees . I managed to perk myself up on Xmas eve and have had a lovely Christmas with both sides of the family although obviously I have no announcement to make (as expected).

Had to really bite my lip today as OH walked in and said one of his friends had text and said 'Merry Christmas to you and the wife'....um yeah, not your wife though am i? I am now officially off talking about it and the next time he mentions the M or W words he will be told not to mention it again unless he is willing to put his money where his mouth is (in very serious tone of voice).

So what did everyone get for Xmas? It's always been a massive event in my house so I should fore warn you that this could be a LONG list...
