  • Well...I think 'talking' about it on here has spurred me on....

I've found a nice ring, and at he top of my thoughts is proposing....it feels right.

It will make my girlfriend super happy and I want to be the reason for that.

    Arrgghhh scary!

    That's wonderful! :)
  • Eeeeeee good luck *hugs*

  • I'm late to the party and know she's probably off on honeymoon by now, but just wanted to nip in to say congratulations to jtr and her husband(!)

Does she have a ring you could take to be sized? If not you could maybe propose with a Haribo or something then tell her you've picked a ring but didn't want to risk getting the size wrong and take her. I know people in films always have the ring for the proposal but it doesn't always work like that in real life.

Does she have another ring she wears that you could use? You can print off ring size measures from jewellery websites.

Good luck :o You'll make her one extremely happy lady :D

You do like my lovely man did, you get one 4 times too big and you have to wait 10 days for it to be resized :rotfl:

Thank you wangdoodle and HeadAboveWater, I never thought that getting engaged could be such a wonderfully emotional moment (considering I have never shown one bit of interest in anything wedding related!).

Fellows, if you do wander here (which if you are means things are already on your mind), please do consider it, not just to please your girl, but because if you love her, you will probably find yourself that it brings much more happy good feelings than you had anticipated.

My OH had looked online about size guessing as I don't wear any jewellery, he'd tried to measure my finger while I was asleep and apparently I grabbed his hand and placed it away from mine while sleeping! I think in the end he went a couple of sizes smaller than his own finger (I've only just clicked on while typing, that that'll be why he was getting me to hold my hand up to his "to see how big his manly hands were compared to mine"!). It only had to be made a size and a half bigger, which wasn't bad! Good luck ginger!

It may help that I dabble in making jewelry, but I got Herself to give me the ring sizes of all her fingers. I think the excuse was I was trying to work out the amount of metal I'd need for rings. Luckily she didn't twig and I could provide the right size ring for the proposal a few days later. I'd fully expected to be buying a second "proper" engagement ring, but happily managed to hit the nail on the head with the first.
    HTH and good luck.
