I found out earlier that the last unengaged couple in our friendship group (other than me and OH) are now engaged, and I'm ashamed to say it's really upset me. Of course I am happy for them - they're my friends after all - but part of me also feels really angry, in an 'it's not fair, they've been together for less time than we have, why is it their turn and not ours?!' I know that makes me sound like such a brat but with all the hints OH's been dropping about Malta - getting champagne when we get there, upgrading to hot tubs etc - I really felt like he was going to do it then, and now I just feel like there's a shadow cast over it because of being the last ones despite having been together longer than some of our friends who are getting married this year. I know it's because we were younger than them when we first got together but I just don't understand what's holding him back. It sounds like an awful thing to say and is probably just the anger talking but I feel like I don't want to do this round the world thing any more, because even though it would be awesome I feel like I'm having to 'give up' the wedding to do it.

*sigh* Oh, it was all going so well.

Arrghhhh! this is SO me :o

Two girls I know from university have both just announced their pregnancies, plus an old work colleague who used to be a close friend...they are all already married so no wedding bells.

Within our group of friends, we're not the last unmarried couple but I swear the next will be a couple who've been together much less time although it has all been a bit a 'whirlwind' romance.

I'm ashamed to admit it's the worry that the OH will be a bit like- oh no, we can't possibly get married til X & Y have had their wedding...which could be a while off

Hmmmp....I'm getting good at putting on my happy face...a year and a half ago I would've been ok about things like that, but now I do get that upset feeling :o

    Oh dear

I'm old enough that most (not all) people didn't live together until they were engaged. .

It's doesn't always work that way though. I wanted to be engaged before we lived together. We'd been together five years, but when I asked OH he said no BECAUSE we didn't live together.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

My OH always says that one of the reasons he hasn't proposed is because we haven't lived together long enough. Cynic in me thinks just another delay tactic ;)

I have stumled across a perfect wedding venue and it is soooo cheap too :( Local town hall is opening a new room with sea views!! How beautiful. I want to ask OH if we can go and have a look (he knows I found out about it), but do you think that is pushing my luck a little?

    And in other news....

I am now Mrs Squirrels to be!! :j

Oh my god, I still cant believe it's real....
We went to the National Trust open weekend to a beautiful castle just over the border in Wales and when we were in a lovely pagoda in the gardens - with absolutely noone around - he got on one knee and asked!!! Amazing!!
And the ring was my favourite ring from the ones we looked at!!! And it fits perfectly!!!
We've just been out for a lovely late lunch in a gorgeous local restaurant too - what a fab day!!!!

I am so excited - have only told my mum and dad so far but thought you ladies had to be next on my list of people to tell!! Once I've got through all my texts and phonecalls, I'll post a pic of the ring!!!!!

Here's hoping you all have a day like this soon!!!!!!!!! :T:T
