Waiting for a proposal - how did you stay sane?!

When I was talking to my mum last night about it I suddenly remembered that when OH asked his parents about coming away to get married he told his mum said something along the lines of 'don't mess it up like your brother and sister did', I might have even wrote about it on here at the time! I am so annoyed about that now as it seems that the comment has really stuck in his mind and is probably feeding his fears :mad:. Why couldn't she have said something positive?!!?!

Fortunately I have a really busy three months coming up with payroll year end, exams and then holiday which will help keep my mind off it. I think I have really said my piece now so I just need to stay off the subject and see what happens. Having such a good time on holiday made me realise that having a ring on my finger would not have made it any more or less enjoyable, yes it would have added to the whole holiday experience but it wasn't the be all and end all. I don't want him to do it out of guilt or fear of losing me but I won't put up with the mixed messages anymore, you can't tell someone you want to marry them then say you aren't ready, they are two opposite things!

Not sure whether it will be next year, obviously a lot depends on what happens or doesn't happen in the next few months. Work have told me I am getting some special shares which could pay me a nice tax free lump sum within the next 12 months so that would be the ideal funds but if not, I am sure another holiday would be a nice alternative :rotfl:

Squirrel, if you man doesn't propose this weekend I am going to hunt him down and slap him on your behalf! It certainly does sound like he has something in mind this weekend but I don't want to be too encouraging as we all know what they are like!

Brightside, I hope you get a lovely ring soon, I think you have been very patient!

Squirrel it's definitely gonna be this weekend! It has to be, he wouldn't say that and then not do it unless he has a death wish! Gosh, this time next week you'll be engaged

Jtr it's really good to hear from you, I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday despite the heart to hearts. The safari sounds incredible, what an amazing birthday that must have been! Maybe your OH will have had a bit of a wake up call xx

Lol @ Verandi! I've lost count the number of things we have done this,weekend and places we've been and he's still not done it!
Going to zoo tomorrow so its his last chance... hes getting thrown to the lions if he's not done it before we come home!

OMG! You seriously have all the patience of a Saint. I don't think I could have lasted until today to not burst into tears.

BUT today isn't over, although I do think it is extremely mean of him to have dropped so many hints that it would be this weekend. If not, then why even say ANYTHING! SO all i can say is wait until today is over............ if you can.

Then we will all be round to wallop him.

Oh Squirrels Like the others said, the day's not over yet it's only 2pm. See what happens later. Maybe he had something planned but bottled it or something didn't go as he planned?

I wish i could have your faith but knowing my OH he will not be planning any other romantic gestures... we are at home now and no other plans for rest if day except housework and dinner.
I've just come into the bathroom to cry, i don't even want to speak to him right now
