Waiting for a proposal - how did you stay sane?!

Oooooh I hope they have a chat. I've said stuff like that to my bf's best friend however I know mainly they just talk about web design, computer games and football so I don't have any hope there!!!! I wish my bf had friends like that!!!

You never know he could just be saying that!

Its nice his friend noticed how good you are to your OH, sometimes it takes someone to point something out before you realise (this happens a lot with men too! :rotfl:) but if the friend has mentioned to your OH how nice etc he thinks you are this could plant an idea in your OH's head as well...... fingers crossed!!!

I do think men tend to take notice of their friends on these things, I hope the friend is right and he does it sooner rather than later

Yes it was all fuelled by alcohol but we have just had whole conversation about engagement and wedding....

OH said it's probably not going to be February but likely to be before end of April (when we are due to visit some friends).
Also said he would really LOVE to get married in NYC and tried to plan the whole thing with me in the pub, even down to outfits etc....
discussed possibility of getting married in UK but decided that abroad, on our own would be best.

I asked him what time of year he would like to get married in NYC and he said most likely summer, so I said oh right so we are looking at 2013 then and he said 'no, 2012 - once we get engaged, we;re not having a long engagement, thats why we need to start planning things now!"

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKK!!

It's weird, as it seems like we will be planning the wedding before I actually get the ring... it's all very bizarre isnt it!! He tells me I shouldnt get too stressed about getting engaged as it WILL happen very soon....
I think he wants to do it somewhere outdoors as he kept talking about it being too cold to do it right now... i was laughing my head off as I have no idea what is in his head.... quite frankly im very intrigued!!!!

More good news! A NY wedding would be amazing, sounds like it won't be long before you are in full wedding swing :T

I wanted to keep this post separate as not to bring down the optimistic nature of the thread at the moment (sorry for being the miserable mare I am going to be....)

I am utterly fed up and at the moment. I know I sound like a stuck record and I am so sorry girls but it's really getting to me now and I am in danger of having a proper toddler style tantrum about it all. I just keep thinking that it's like a year until we are SUPPOSED to be getting married and nothing is organised, or booked or even vaguely discussed and I don't know how we are going to pay deposits or anything anyway, especially with the 2nd holiday coming up, I know OH won't put them on his credit card so I am totally in limbo. I keep trying to focus on the fact it's only just over 4 weeks till Kenya and I guess that's the best chance of him doing anything but it seems so far away.

Three friends/people I know are getting married in May and I am just getting a bit peeved, like it should have been my turn already (I know I am being childish). Going to stop now before I get over emotional..........

FWIW jtr, I don't think you are being childish at all. Unless you have been in this situation, it is impossible to realise how very very stressful it is and in a way completely ridiculous:(

Big big hugs sweetie. The situation is totally sh*t!

If you want a,little advice I would say wait till Kenya, if nothing happens go for your toddler trantrum, he will most certainly deserve it by then!

If you are not ready for advice take bucket loads of hugs and a massive shoulder to cry on xxxx

I have to admit it did make my day just being complimented without going into huge detail it was an even bigger compliment from him

Thanks ladies, I am so glad I can just come on here and rant and people still treat me like I am normal! I know I need to try and be patient as Kenya isn't that long away but OH keeps saying he doesn't feel like I am looking forward to it....um, yeah, because I am dreading coming home if you haven't bloody proposed! :mad:

Years ago I met up with a guy through faceparty (that sounds so dodgy!), we actually became best friends and I met OH through him as they had worked together. Anyway, friend and I had HUGE falling out before OH and I got together properly, it was totally his fault and out of the blue he messaged me on facebook last week so say he was really sorry for how he treated me :eek:. I think he knows that OH and I ended up together and part of me doesn't really want to talk to him again as I feel like a moron saying we have been together almost four years as I am sure he will ask if we are getting married and I will have to say no.....................:(
