Waiting for a proposal - how did you stay sane?!

((hugs)) Rdchick - I can't add any more to what's already been said. I do think you are right though about the not wanting to grow up - I do believe there was an element of that as to why MrD didn't want to marry me... recently though he's been catching himself out making 'grown up' decisions (like not racing his motorbike in the run up to the wedding). By the time next September comes around (2013?) MrRdchick will have gotten over the 30 hurdle and things may settle down for you. (I sincerely hope anyway x) From what I've read though you do sound like you have a very good relationship - if he feels he can talk openly to you about these big issues it all bodes well in my mind x Far too many times you read on these boards about girlfs/fiancees/wifes not daring to discuss smaller issues with their partners!!0

Thanks MrsD we do have quite an open relationship, we tell each other stuff one way or another... And I think now that I have slept on it he was just airing is concerns about not being a good enough dad even though I think if we had a kid tomorrow we would be fine.
We both agreed that it would be years before kids happened so a lot can change then, I will be on a better wage so we can afford to save for things like weddings and kids. If I get into the forces then you get pretty good maternity leave with them I hear whereas my current employer just go or the cheapest option, no benefits like extra time off or anything, don't even get sick pay so yeah, don't want to be pregnant working there.
Today we have family and friends over for his birthday, really looking forward to it! Them tomorrow we are off to Cardiff for the night where he's going flying... I'll post some piccys when we're back!
Have a great weekend everyone and thank you for the support
Love and hugs

Quick update - sorry if it doesnt make sense as have just come back from pub!!
Yes it was all fuelled by alcohol but we have just had whole conversation about engagement and wedding....
OH said it's probably not going to be February but likely to be before end of April (when we are due to visit some friends).
Also said he would really LOVE to get married in NYC and tried to plan the whole thing with me in the pub, even down to outfits etc....
discussed possibility of getting married in UK but decided that abroad, on our own would be best.
I asked him what time of year he would like to get married in NYC and he said most likely summer, so I said oh right so we are looking at 2013 then and he said 'no, 2012 - once we get engaged, we;re not having a long engagement, thats why we need to start planning things now!"
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKK!!
It's weird, as it seems like we will be planning the wedding before I actually get the ring... it's all very bizarre isnt it!! He tells me I shouldnt get too stressed about getting engaged as it WILL happen very soon....
I think he wants to do it somewhere outdoors as he kept talking about it being too cold to do it right now... i was laughing my head off as I have no idea what is in his head.... quite frankly im very intrigued!!!!0 -

This was how my brother and his fiancee did things. They'd found the venue, set the date, told all of us etc, and then he proposed. It seems to have worked for them

Slight glimmer of hope here (I mean the tiniest) We were being silly and I pretended to be hard done by because my brother bought his girlfriend a beautiful bracelet and took her to a V posh restaurant for Valentines.
I was only pretending before i get accused of being very horrible! Anyway he started tickling me and said: 'You need to be quiet missy as you have surprises coming up'
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaase be a frickin ring!!! (Even if it is haribo!!!)

Eeeeeeek
OH has a friend staying. He was complimenting me on how lovely i am and how lucky OH is and how is a little jealous - Yup he can stay anytime he likes :rotfl: anyway he asked if I wanted to get married again, kind of thought s*d it. So rather chilled I said, I would love to get married and OH knows I would marry him tomorrow if he asked, but I also said I don't think he wants to get married so I am not expecting a proposal anytime soon. OH friend said I am sure he will one day and to patient.
They are both out later today, hopefully it might come up in conversation :rotfl:0 -
