Normally if you want to query a decision, then you should send a polite email to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com

    Perhaps give that a go?

PMing MSE staff is not usually the best idea, even if they do have PMs switched on. Not least because some of them seem to build up a big backlog of unread PMs, so it might not be read for many days. ;)

Thanks fermi I didn't realise, I just thought because that person pm'd me the infraction they would know the reason why.

MSE Andrea did state some time ago that any infraction notice would include the reason and the length of the 'yellow card'. Perhaps you could PM her and let her know this is not happening?

So the procedure is that a warning is given to a forum member, that member must then send a 'polite email' to the forum team, who will send a PM back to the member telling them what they did to deserve a warning?

    Seems a bit clunky doesn't it? :)

My understanding is that the PM sent to the 'offending' member should state the reason. ;)

Three AEs having a banter with each other. The same person who has registered dozens upon dozens the last few weeks.

And the abuse team is worried about doling out yellow cards to 'normal' members... :D

The vBulletin infraction system works in a way that a PM notification is automatically sent when one is given.

That's going to happen, even if the person giving it doesn't read or respond to their PMs much.

I suspect someone just forgot to fill in the PM text. ;)

This forum operates a report system by email, so if you want to query something then that is the way to do it if you want to make sure it's brought to the forum or admin teams attention.

Possibly a bit clunky, but it's the result of bolting on a reporting system based on email onto a platform that wasn't designed with that in mind.

I'm not saying that you won't get a response when querying via PM, but emailing the forumteam@ address is the more official route and the one that should be read and dealt with by someone in good time (in theory). Rather than PMing someone who might not be checking their PMs very regularly.

Then it would be polite to respond when asked why an infraction has been imposed, no?

If the OP emails the forum team, I'm sure they will take a look at it and reply.

Honestly, I think it would be a good idea if infraction PMs stated in them to direct any queries via email to the forum team?

As said, it's the more appropriate route, and you wouldn't get a lack of reply due to someone having a huge backlog of unread PMs. I'm sure the MSE team members get 1,000s, and can't possibly keep up.

Fermi I don't want to tell you how to do your job but is there any chance you could just lock this thread and put everyone out of their misery.

    Nope.

Not my job. Not my board. Sorry.

    Presumably you reported it?
