  • I am the only one who would take the harsh option?

    NO!:D

Reminds me of my teen slamming the fridge door shut and screaming at me that all we had in the fully stocked fridge was ingredients and NO PROPER FOOD :rotfl: She went hungry!

    Mushroom pakora.

Mushrooms fried in a little butter with lemon and thyme served on toast.
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

No, I wouldn't indulge her either.

Nor me. I wouldn't even buy any mushrooms for her. I'd give her money to buy her own, though. And she can cook them. Tough love.

I would choose one of two harsh options...

Either cook her boiled mushrooms every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner... OR

She eats what she is given :D

(if you take the first option, I doubt it would be long before she asked for some proper food :) )

    hi

Have you tried them with pasta. you can add bacon/sausage and a cheese sauce (or just some cream cheese) and whatever veg she will eat.
My mom used to poach them in milk and serve with bread to dip in the milk
    What about garlic mushrooms
or savoury rice and mushrooms or mushroom fried rice

    hth
    MM
p.s. I now want pasta and mushrooms and garlic mushrooms

Thank you thats exactly what she is having, pasta and mushrooms with a cheese topping, smells yummy to be honest

How did it go quilty? I do tend to think that if she was really hungry, she'd eat, but girls of that age sometimes have hormonal wobbles (I don't have experience as a parent, but I work with adolescent girls a lot!) and it is entirely possible that her hormones are ruling her appetite for the moment.

We have every sympathy with pregnant women, over their strange appetites... 12 year olds have raging hormones too!

Edit, oops just saw your post, and glad she's eaten!

What's with the pasta and cheese? Only mushrooms means just that.

you may think this is evil of me OP...........but, why bother thinking up 101 ways to cook mushrooms. to me that is pandering to a food fad. I would just serve them up at every meal cooked exactly the same way - and count how many days it takes before she is heartily sick of mushrooms! even if it takes a week or more - you say she is healthy so a week on nothing but mushrooms isnt going to hurt her long term!

To the people that said tough love, I do agree but all she wanted was a plate of mushrooms, it was me that wanted to make it an actual meal for her.

To the people that are questioning my parenting skills and saying 'who runs the house etc' It is me, I just like my DD to eat well and she has just finished her portion and said 'thank you Mom that was lovely is there any more?' That makes it worth while taking a very kind persons advice for a meal I wouldnt usually of cooked.

Another thought: Is she doing it to lose weight, do you think? It's the right kind of age to become body conscious :(

Not at all, shes an athlete and likes to put on a steady weight as she grows, she really is a good kid, I'm a bit sorry for how she seems to have been portrait, she isnt a brat, she doesnt make demands she just fancied mushrooms this week! I'm very proud of her and I wouldn't do tough love for some silly mushrooms, it will be another thing next week and that will be fine too.
