I needed spuds and was dropping himself off at the bus stop right near the saturday market. hum i thought i 'll get a sack while i'm here. unfortunately i also got 3lb mushrooms £1.50 4lb onions £1.00 3lb carrots £1.00 a cabagge and a cauli £1.00 by the way the spuds were £6.00 so how to conceal the stuff is my main purpose because my usual trick is to leave it to fester for a month or two and then chuck it all out. i usually use about half of any of it.
thanks in anticipation:beer:
I'll add this to the exisitng thread on mushrooms. Next time, remeber that it's only a bargain if you intend to use it

Hello,
I have another "are they ok" question - this time it's button mushrooms!
How do you know when they are too old to eat? I have a packet of mushrooms. They are a few days by the BB date which I am not bothered about, but they have gone quite brown and speckled. Are these still ok to use in cooking?
Thanks in advance!

They'll be fine. Like most veg, they'll be perfectly edible unless they've actually gone mouldy - even if they're too past-their-best to eat fresh, you won't notice the difference once they've been cooked.

CCP the mushroom queen! :rotfl: beat me to it!
Hi Fitzio :hello:
can't advise myself (have an aversion to mushies) but from the sounds of it, they are ok to use from others advice
Here is a thread link - Mushrooms - what to do? May give you some suggestions you hadn't thought of to use them. I'll add your thread to this one later to keep the information together
How about trying Mushroom soup? That's what I would do (if I liked mushies:o)
thanks

Thanks everyone as always! Will have a look at the mushroom soup for another time, but currently making a creamy mustard pork dish with mushrooms in! And if they really are ok, I might keep some for a stir fry tomorrow night.0
