For ppl who thinks IOS 5 is bringing a lot new things onto the table... the link above showed exactly how Apple implement things that have been working on other platforms for a long time and make it sounds like its a new function... well... it is new to Apple I supposed....
My wife has a Iphone 3G, granted, it was a little old now, but for those that are saying that iOS support is good as they are coming out with new updates, I can tell you that they dun really think much for the older users. My wife's phone is being made worst with the new OS updates and in fact, it would be better to stay on older version than to update them.... so the reasoning behind this would not work if you are getting iphone for its updates...
Similar thing would happen for android I supposed... new OS normally support newer phones as older phones does not have the hardware to power them.... but one shouldn't use this as a reason to sway themselves towards one or the other....0 -
Why not root it?
And if you want a cheapie Android, why not get a San Fran and put Froyo on it?0 -

Recently upgraded to the iPhone 4 & I find it brilliant. I don't want to be messing around with a phone rooting & modding it as a lot of Android users do, so the iPhone is ideal.
True a lot do as they want more functions and early versions of some Android phones where a bit laggy .many Android users grab updates before release and if you want something different then somebody can usually build it .
However no need to root or mod that's just extra like jailbreak IPhone .
SanFransisco probably best value for money phone in the market .
Android 1.5 bit like Win 3.1 compared to Android 2.3 .

Just out of interest, when you say 'works straight out of the box' what do you mean exactly?

AS i say its a phone that a child can master out of the box and thats a big plus for many ease of use .
If Android could pinch a bit of the it just works Apple ethos it would wipe the board .

OK - I have to stop you there. "It just works" is pure Apple marketing. If you say it enough people will believe it, but it's no kind of explaination at all. If I gave my HTC Desire HD to a child they'd be able to use it too, so "it just works" then?
As for updates and support... I seem to remember Apple advertising the ability to copy and paste with the 3GS and that it was "pretty amazing" - what for 2001? Every other phone on the market had it yet for some reason it was "amazing"? That is how Apple sell things and people buy it because they don't know any better. Android phones get regular updates that are pushed to the phone by your provider (you can choose not to download it) and so are kept up to date and in support like any other phone. To say "they go out of date quickly" is a myth. And you don't have to root it, but if you do you will extend the useful life of the phone. Jailbreaking an iPhone is much the same thing.
Also you need to think about the additional costs of the phones. Android phones are generally open and use standard connectors (usb mini etc). I have a blackberry for work but i can also charge my HTC phone with it... no need to go hunting for a proprietery connector. Apps - you will generally find good apps for free with Android and those made by Google will always be top quality, Apple will cost more (it's a small charge but it builds up) and being a closed development system limits what you can get to only what Apple "approve of" (see Google Voice if you want a very good example).Faith is believing what you know ain't so...0 -
Exactly. My friends with iPhones have more trouble than those with Android.
And I know I definitely do because it's impossible to do anything you want to on an iPhone.0 -

Marketing speak maybe but all IPhone users claim it works out of the box are they lying dito that they find it easy to use .
No point selling Android over IPhone to me the OP was asking for feedback .
