I am extra careful to remove cookies etc, therefore i know that the problem lies between quidco and sky. Quidco & Sky seemed to string me along for months before declining cashback.

Why does it takes months ?

Unfortunately, cookies rarely lie. Maybe you clicked thru to Sky from a banner ad somewhere a few days earlier? Either that, or Sky are deliberately lying.

I work in IT so would like to think I can use the Internet properly! It's a scam if theyve said that to so many people all at once.

Quidco can you tell me if Intercontinental group are on the faster payments list. I have just received a payment in to my bank account and as it is not the end of the month, I can't understand why I have received the payment at this stage of the month. Also the rate is incorrect. Payment has been made at 7% instead of 12%. I have raised incorrect cash back reports.
    Thanks

i emailed quidco yesterday to ask if both claims with sky had been declined or if it was just the one.

i got a cut and paste response identical to my original email with the 'helpful' addition of a further cut and paste saying the retailer approved my claim and the declined it 9 days later with the "paid to someone else" excuse.

somebody has screwed up here and it certainly isn't me

    *edit*

Quidco got back to me again and pointed out that i'd misread the previous ticket. My initial purchase with £25 pounds cashback has been approved by Sky, but my subsequent purchase for £50 quid cashback was then declined for the mysterious "other referrer" reason. So it makes it even harder to understand how they can decline one and not the other when i did exactly the same thing beforehand both times.

A good idea to make sure you have no cookies left on your computer before using cash back websites is to manually view the cookie folder to see that none have been left.

Sometimes I can clear cookies in Internet Explorer but a few still remain in the folder, so I have to clear cookies again to erase them.

    rosie, rosie, rosie ..

i've had this cut and paste response three times now ..
    Thanks for contacting us.

I do understand your frustration but on this occasion the retailer is telling us that the referral fee for your purchase has been paid to another referrer. When this happens I'm afraid that we are unable to take the matter any further for you as we have to accept their decision.

There are a number of reasons why cashback would be paid to another referrer rather than to Quidco and you can reduce the risk of this happening by clearing your cookies and temporary internet files before logging in to Quidco, although we can never guarantee cashback.

If you don't take these precautions, then other sites which you may have visited prior to visiting Quidco (such as comparison sites, the retailers own site and search engines such as Google) may be credited with the commission, as this is how the affiliate system works.

Again, I do appreciate how you must feel but we can only pass on the cashback if a retailer pays us.

I'm so sorry we can't take this any further for you.

Did anyone actually read the email I sent ??
This makes the decision to decline the claim on the 24th of May even more hard to comprehend. I would certainly like to know this mysterious "other referrer" that the fee has apparently been paid to because I can categorically state that before I made the purchase, I cleared my cookies and internet browsing cache. I made certain that ALL information relating to Quidco and Sky was removed before I rebooted my machine and logged in to Quidco to complete the purchase.

I have noticed on the money saving expert forums that a number of people have also had the exact same issue regarding Sky declining claims due to "other referrers" being paid instead. This certainly suggests to me that there is a problem somewhere and I ask that you please investigate.

I worked in IT and, considering the fact i've had a very poor history with Quidco, I can assure you that I took my time to make sure I had covered every eventuality that might cause the purchase not to track. This is why I cannot accept that one claim is approved and one declined when I followed exactly the same routine for both claims.

As you can see, I clearly explain the procedure I followed, yet I get a third cut-and-paste response which clearly ignores pretty much everything I've written because it "helpfully" reminds me to clear my cookies and temporary internet files when I've kind of ALREADY MENTIONED THAT :)

I should apologize to everyone else on this thread by taking up all this space with my rants, but this has made me so angry, and Quidco's laughable attempts at customer service are just making it worse. Either way, I won't be letting this go. I'll certainly be having a chat with the ASA at some point because if Quidco are advertising a cashback deal they never had any intention of honouring, at worst it's false advertising and at best it's flat out fraudulent misrepresentation.

    *edit*

actually, for those of you who have also experienced this problem, whenever you get a chance, could you possibly PM me with the details?. stuff like date you made the purchase, reference numbers and stuff like that. The more information I can present to the ASA, the better chance there'll be of actually getting somewhere with it. thanks in advance :)

thanks, have replied. i'm going to start another thread from this point because it's not fair to clog up the Q&A thread with this issue.
