Also had the edf price increase letter. On my usage I have worked out it amounts to an 18% hike (£200) over a year.
PS I see the online 10 would come in cheaper but it all depends on whether they can/will charge the Early termination fees of £60, and I see that despite the Legal team saying one thing to Backfoot, the reality on the 'helpline' is different - same old story with edf. Is this just at their discretion or is there any guidance from ofgen etc on customer rights when a supplier ups their prices in the middle of a fixed term contract0 -

Yes, I know, but their system (including My Account) has been down (for 'maintenance') just about every other weekend for months now.
Calling them won't help if the staff can't access their own system. No free lunch, and no free laptop

(I was going to email you about this
.)
I want clarification from SP (thats who I will switch too.) that prices of their new tariff will not be affected after the 1st of aug switch. Do you have any information ?
Cheers Mate

I can only suggest that the EDF Legal Team actually liaise with 'Social Media' (hidden presence here) and the Customer Service bods and online teams.
EDF have a policy to waive such cancellation charges for a period of a month following notification of the price increase on OS7.
Like the other matters I negotiated on OS7, there is a disconnect between the decision makers and the front line. All I can say is stick to your guns, switch if it makes sense for you and eventually it will be sorted.
Like me, you have to be determined to win the day.
I have done my utmost to get the best out of EDF during all this period and to be fair, they have been accomodating. What I can't answer for is the communication processes within EDF.
Best of luck to all.

Only 1% below guaranteed?? That means they can increase the current rates considerably and you are still locked in due to the T&Cs. And SP have got form shall we say for pulling a fast one in the past so not tempted. The real reason I've gone for the fix is because it covers the next 3 winters. But like I say still not convinced I've done the right thing (I've got 12 days to make up my mind)
Yes that's the risk. I took the view that its a new product announced at the same time as the 19% increase and aimed at the online market.
If it's a short term con, I will letting our friend Colin know.
I would check your figures and assess the cheapest deal with the 2014 Fix. That's the percentage premium on which you base your decision. In my case, the premium is over £300.
I have to say, a three year fix is much better than the shorter term ones which just feed off insecurities.0 -
I have emailed their Customer Service Director via the website stating online chat told me today I can reject the price increase but I will be charged a termination fee. Let's see what they say back to me.0

I'm on v7 and v10 is now looking cheaper. Does anyone know if v10 has increased in price lately?"fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0

Can you please provide a link for EDF chat? - just checked on their website but cannot find it. Thanks - MS0 -
Someone's already posted it on this thread a page or two back, that's where I got it from, it's not always guaranteed to pop up though if you read what others said.0

I called this morning. Told them I was on Online v7 and wanted to switch to Fixed version 2. Said I had been told there would be no termination fee as I was staying within the company and the rep agreed that was the case. Switch was put in place and I should get confirmation.
At the moment then, pending the actual transfer, it looks to be trivial and free. As far as I can figure out the fix will actually be cheaper for me than the new rate with V7 and I can't see prices going down in the next 12 months.0 -
I have resorted in fixing to version 2 as well, given there's !!!!!! all in the way of good deals out there. Let's face it, come December we were all going to have to find another deal to switch to anyway. They confirmed by phone no switching penalty.
Surely fixed v2 is due to be pulled soon? How long has it been out there?0
