Hey guys the time has come our prices are on the up and are now available on Energyhelpline and Moneysupermarket.

My prices are as follows

Gas Standing Charge 21.94p per day
Gas Charge - 3.298 up from 2.67p

Elec Standing Charge 24.75p per day
Elec Charge 10.710 up from 7.7p

Now Im thinking of switching to EDF 2014 to fix the prices however could I reject the cancellation charge from EDF OS7 and switch tariff or would I have to switch supplier.

it seems EDF prices increase is imminent so im reviewing my options immediatly but I would like some input into what you guys are doing staying or changing ect.

All input would be great. :D

Cheers

  • Thanks for the good news! Only joking.... I,m on this tariff as well. Same prices as you.

How would get we get on with the termination fees if we move? Maybe they will waive the fee if we transfer to their fixed deal.

I,ll give them a ring tomorrow.

Gutted the prices are going up yet again though. Seems to be the trend of any excuse to put up the prices but not so keen to reduce them when it,s needed.

    Pure greed!

Firstly, i like your username even though we sing it better.:D

Secondly to gerrard- months and months ago i think EDF were offering a 5 year fixed to 2016. When i spoke to them at the time at least 2 individuals there told me if i changed from one EDF tariff to another there would be NO cancellation charges. That was then and i would check again but that's what they told me

Just spoke to EDF and according to the rep there is no increase in tariff at this moment but they would charge £35 per fuel if i moved to another (ie 2014 fixed) EDF tariff. Has anyone actually had notification that osv7 tariff is changing?

The T&C's for OSv7 clearly state that the ETC for dual fuel is £60 (£30 per fuel), so EDF seem to be making this up as they go along (no change there then).
I'm considering switching to EDF Fixed Saver 2 and paying the penalty-does anyone know what the likely increase in OSv7 is going to be?
Energyhelpline indicates that FS2 will only cost me an additional £20pa over OSv7, so the total penalty for switching is £80. Given an imminent steep rise in OSv7, it looks like a no-brainer to move to FS2.
    Or a I missing something?

Could you not say you are planning to switch suppliers and pay the ETC but would consider staying and switching product if they waived the ETC? As surely they would rather keep your custom then get £60.

Also when I did an online chat with Jayson this morning said they would not charge ETC for switching to a fix. I am on OSv8 at present. I have printed out the conversation if I do change and they do try and charge!

    Just got my lettters today.

    Gas changing to:

    20.9p ex vat standing charge
    3.141p ex vat all KWH

    Electricity changing to:

    24.62p ex vat standing charge
    10.72p ex vat all KWH

The price per KWH has gone up, but the standing charge have gone down. I guess this will be a less of a blow for the low users.

Having inputted the new figures based on my last years usage I am going to be around £200 worse off! However, having looked at my electricity usage over the last 7 months I think I am on course to reduce my usage quite a bit (unless somebody has read the meter wrong, which isn't unknown!), so the hit this year shouldn't be so drastic for that.
  • Also received my EDF ONline S@ver 7 increases this morning.

My Electricity is increasing from 8.37p to 10.37p (+23.89%)
Standing charge decreasing from 23.22p to 23.14p (-0.34%)

My gas is increasing from 2.639 to 3.141p (+19.02%)
Standing charge decreasing from 24.37 to 20.90p (-14.24%)

I only changed from EDF six months ago so don't really want to change again. I've looked on their site but can't see some of the fixed rates other posters are referring to - do I have to look at a comparison site?

Slightly confused by the EDF rises-they announced an increase in Feb which was implemented on 2/3. When was this further rise announced. and on what date does it come into force please?

northcoombes: if you log into your online account, go to Account Details and click on 'Change Product', then it will show you the available tariffs. Fixed Saver V2 and Fixed Saver 2014 should be among them.
