Is something wrong with our house?

I was leaving all lovely curtains, pelmets and blinds (the other house had none of those).
Without seeing the house it's impossible to do anything other than guess, but -- how to put this -- do you think it's possible all the pelmets (and other decorative touches) might not have been entirely to the taste of the typical modern buyer?0 -
That is baffling, when put like that. Have you got pets, perhaps? They can smell, even if you don't think so. Maybe people preferred the corner house, as they tend to be lighter? You really need to find out what the issue is, so what does your agent say? What about the agent who sold the corner house?
I phoned the other agent and they thought my house looked great on rightmove and were surprised viewers who viewed and one of which bought the other house never viewed mine. In fact when I phoned the agent they didn't even know my house was on sale in that vicinity. It took her a good 3 minutes or so of searching online to find my house on rightmove - strange that since when I do a search of the area my house always comes up.
I asked the agent who sold the corner house if they were interested to take my house onto their books but since I am already with 2 agents they didn't want to take me on too.0 -

Well the curtains and pelmets are very modern (3 years old). I always tell the viewers I could leave those if they wanted me to but I didn't have to. The colour scheme is very neutral and pale. The blinds are plain venetian blinds.
Of course anyone buying the house can easily change the house to their specs/taste but the way it is currently, the can just move in and live.
I have never had negative feedback from the viewers (through my agents) with regard to the colour scheme or curtains etc.
So far the reasons for not going ahead have been:- 1 viewer said the doorways were not big enough to bring in their huge solid one piece Malaysian furniture (I think they will need to take out the bay windows to get this size of furniture in).
- Another few viewers found the garden too small (garden is appx 30ft wide by 50ft deep).
- Another viewer found the 3rd room too small although room 3 and 4 are the exact same size.
- Another viewer decided she didn't want to live in this part anymore.
- Another viewer thought the house was not close enough to their local relatives.

How is it going HypnoNu? I just drove past your house and coincidentally got home and saw this thread, it looks gorgeous in the pictures on Rightmove. We looked at a couple of houses on the same road (to rent) about 8-10 years ago and then more (to buy) 6 years ago. Parking was real issue for us there and I'm afraid both times we decided we'd rather get a bit more for our money in other local towns. Not everyone will feel this way though, looks like a great location being so close to town, hope you find a buyer soon.0

I think at £270k it is just too close to the stamp duty threshold.0

Yes I do have two small dogs. I cannot personally find any smells in the house although like you say others might.
It's a big turn-off for some people, I'm afraid. Even though I like dogs, I would be put off by other people's doggy smells. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Nothings changed really, the new pics of the house are up, I even spent a whole weekend up ladders giving the conservatory a full repaint and spruce up to make it look extra lovely, I don't know what to do any more, I'm too pregnant to think about it any more, when I think about it get teary. I'm just so fed up of the whole thing. I don't know why no-ones buying it, you can't get a comparable house unless you go to dedworth for the same price. In the the 4 years we've been here we've had no parking issues at all, there's plenty of parking in the road to side of us and if people are really concerned then for a small annual amount there's an arrangement for secure parking the school car park which is virtually opposite the house. There's nothing more we can do, I'm tired of getting my hopes up and getting upset about it. If we dont get an offer in the next 2 weeks it's coming off the market, we're going to try and squeeze a third bedroom in ( there's a thread about it in the DIY forum). Keep your fingers crossed for the next 2weeks for me, I've lost faith a bit, everyone else I know who wants to move is managing to do it...it's just getting me down
Sorry for the whinge....0 -
It's hugely over-priced and streetview shows some nasty cracking and sagging around the front window. I can't see how the value has increased by 57 grand since 2008. I mean it's a cold (according to EPC) 2 bed terrace after all.0

Is there ever any other comment from you??? :rotfl:
I could walk down the street selling £10 notes for £5 all day long, just to get a "quick sale".....
That would make me an idiot though....“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
