A bit of good news - courts have finally responded and have agreed nisi part of divorce.  This still needs to go before the judge on 23rd October but at least we have a date.  I can then apply 6 weeks and a day after for absolute and that will be the marriage over.  Might manage to get it all done by Christmas.  I wont however be able to get finance bits sorted quite as quickly.  Apparently the courts are taking about 10 weeks to process those, and as yet OH still hasn't provided his side of the figures for this to even be started yet.  Plus then there is Christmas and new year which hold it up even more. But at least there is some movement.
Its my day off today and I had boiler serviced so another thing ticked off the list of to do's.  Finally managed to clean the kitchen to a reasonable level and living room floor which had disappeared for some time!

I'm really pleased for you. That is fantastic news. Well done you for getting it all through.
I make that December 7th. Merry Christmas 🎄 to you!!! Be great if you could have all that side of things over with this year meaning you're free of it for 2021!
Fingers crossed that the financial stuff gets sorted soon. Maybe say how nice it would be for him for you both to be free for next year? Well... if you get to speak to him. Then as you say just wait for him to lose interest in the kids so you can have them all to yourself xxxx

Kitten868 you have described my idea situation lol.  It would be great if it could be sorted before 2021 but i have a feeling the money side will drag.  You never know, perhaps the other woman will want me gone quicker and help him sort it out

I worry about her involvement. Seems strange wanting him to do it first. Trysts in the caravan in his dads front garden.

I'm intrigued about your panto plans. I want to find one too xxx

  • I remain in awe of how quickly you have been able to get through the divorce process, although I’m sure it may not feel that quick to you! Have you had to go through mediation for the financial part?

Honeysucklelou2 it really doesn't feel quick my end, but i was thinking around this time last year i was telling my best friend how happy i was.  We were financially stable and only improving each month, i had a loving husband and the kids were happy.  It all came crashing down around my ears on 11th Nov.  We didn't go through any mediation.  He obviously had something in mind that he wanted to buy and went for the 20k and i said ok.  That's how he works.  No looking towards future plans just the here and now.
I've just heard a staff member's husband has been asked to do a test as he has been in contact with someone who has virus.  Boss has told her to stay away (in a nice way) until his test comes back negative.  All getting closer

Good morning everyone.  Tried to have a lie in this morning as they don't happen very often, but it just didn't work.  Between cats and DD2 coming in my room and waking me up, I figured I may as well get out of bed!  I have been really tired this week, but looking around all of the other mums on the school runs, I am not alone lol.  One more week to go.
Managed to get a few more Christmas bits this week - Mum is doing well this year as I never really know what to get her.  I just need to wrap it all and send it to her (not in UK) asap.  My sister has said not to get her or her partner anything as they don't need anything and put the money into the kids Christmas instead and we will just buy for the kids.  I got a bit teary when I spoke to her as I realised I was unlikely to get any gifts to open this year.  I know its not all about receiving gifts, and on a 'normal' year I probably wouldn't have felt this way, but one present on Christmas morning would be nice.  Mum and uncle will give me money but that's not the same. OH was never great at presents but usually managed something small from the kids.  Pretty sure he will not sort anything this year and I don't want the kids using their own money.  It will be hard, probably as hard as last year when we visited my sister but only me and OH knew it was over, but trying to act as if nothing was different and we were still a happy family.  I guess I am being silly really as the most important thing is that the kids have a great day, and we are all together.
Anyway todays jobs include homework, washing, roast dinner and general tidying and pottering around the house.  Also need to see if i can apply for new bank account yet (need to wait for universal credit statements to update to show this months wages before i can do it). Have a great day everyone

Morning to you all.  I have just had my telephone meeting with the job centre as requested.  Due to almost no hours in July and then summer holidays in August (so no hours), it had been flagged up to them that i need to be looking for work.  Today my sept wages showed up on their screens and the lady commented 'oh your now working'  I had to explain i had always been working, but due to lockdown and holidays it was very low pay.  Anyway she has made a note on my account that Aug will always be a low paid month and hopefully my 18 hours a week will be enough for now.  I can now stop worrying i will be made to work holidays and have put kids into childcare - really don't want to but realise some people don't have the choice - don't want to offend anyone.
As my universal credits statement has updated I was also able to open the government savings scheme.  For every £1 I put in they pay a bonus of 50p.  I have been waiting for my wages to be high enough to become eligible and with some help from my boss (Added an extra £8 to my wages because she is kind like that) I made it past the amount I needed.  I can in theory get a bonus of £1200 over the 4 years if I put £50 in each month and leave it there for 4 years.  I'm not sure i will manage it every month especially if i move house but every little helps so they say.
I was going to do some shopping while at the job centre but now its been done over the phone i think i will spend the day tidying the house instead.  DD1 needs a glue stick and DD2 needs ingredients to make a larva lamp.  Will try to find both around the house to avoid going out anywhere.
Right must make a move washing needs doing and dishwasher will not load itself :)

Yay found both the glue stick and larva lamp bits so no need to pop into town and spend money on things I don't really need.  This is the key to not spending for me - if I don't go to a shop i cant buy things not on my list.  If I could just curb online spending a bit, it would be even better lol.

  • The Help to Save account is certainly helping me to get into a savings habit, although I’ve broken it down into saving £12.50 a week. It seems less to miss over a week than £50 in one hit!
