Hi SLM - on tooth fairy - I know people who pay 20p a tooth and others who pay £1 or more. It needs to be something you can afford as you will find they often lose a few teeth close together!

On children and bedrooms - yes hopefully she will learn her lesson.... I tend to make sure my punishments of them don't indirectly punish me - so perhaps review which things her playing with gives you peace and which ones just add to the noise and chaos. The ones which give you peace could be the first she gets back if you see what I mean

I think non-shop weeks are definitely a good way to go. You could also do your own version of the storecupboard challenge and see what meals you can make from what you already have rather than just buying more... Since MSE I am far more aware of the sales cycle in shops and far less likely to pay full price on the high street. I also understand much more that if one shop has a food on offer- another shop may have it on better offer or perhaps have it on offer next week instead which reduces the sense of urgency to grab a bargain. I saved £10 off my planned shop this week as after checking the fridge freezer I found a load of chicken fillets I'd forgotten about since April!! I was just in the habit of buying more without checking what we already had!!

Good luck. The grocery board would probably help you with ideas of what to make from what you already have if you wanted them to

  • morning :)

I agree with savingholmes try the grocery board with all the bits in your cupboard and i bet they can make a few meals out of it!

This month i tried shopping in a different way, it's going well so far, I did one huge shop at the beginnning of the month for meat and essentials that we were out of or low on, i.e washing powder, tins, pasta (i buy huge bag from tesco) and bought all of that then the second week all i had to do was a little list of bits we had run out of i.e bread, eggs, cereal (thankfully i had those free coupons too lol) and so far i am well within my budget compared to where i normally am by this time of the month :) I need to do another biggish shop really now but i am going downstairs today and see what food i can find to last me the weekend. If i have enough then will go monday instead meaning i haven't done a big shop for nearly 3 weeks :D

And as for your daughter's room situation...i remember trying this very tactic about 6 years ago on my son, he was a little older than your daughter too so he missed his toys/t.v/play station etc straight away! It meant he kept his room clean and helped around the house till he had most of it back ( i snuck a few bits to charity shop as he never played with them all anyway) and it actually stayed clean (ish) for about 6 months after

Well i still havent managed to get round to looking in the freezer and making a list yet. 2 kids are currently having a nap and eldest is watching a film on the sofa. All calm here at the moment. OH is going racing tonight as people need a lift and this way he gets petrol, and ticket paid for and food etc plus still gets a nice night out (for free so cant really complain) plus i get time to myself to do stuff like sewing some of my xmas gifts. It also means we can get away with jacket potatoes beans and cheese without him complaining he want a propper meal.

Anyway i have been busy taking pictures of bits and pieces to go on ebay and hopefully raise a few pennies. Only problem is camera is now playing up and i cant find the cable to link camera to laptop! typical as i actually have about 3 of these cables and not one of them is where i left them. I want to get these bits on ebay so i can get some pennies. Guess i better get going :)

Well bits on ebay dont have any bids yet but plenty of people watching so i am hopeful. Went to Mr T today and got DD's birthday pressie for £5 under what i thought i was going to cost as it was in the sale so very happy about that. Just realised that Mr T is also doing price checks on items bought - how silly do i feel knowing how many receipts i have wasted recently not checking - not quite sure how i missed this until now?

Off swimming in a little while as swimming pool is celebrating it 25th year of opening and prices are back to original prices (65p for adult and 35p for kids). Thought i would treat LO's as we hardly ever go swimming as a family now as its just too expensive. Got my brother coming along for moral support. I think then a quick easy dinner and then they can go to bed early tonight. Will have showers at pool to save money on heating water - how MSE am i!

Feeling a little gutted as a week or so ago i was allocated some new roads for my avon. I delivered my first load of books friday for collection today as manager had given details for this road. Got 3 orders with 2 customers saying they need to keep hold of the book so they can write orders. So 5 customers and at least £50 worth of sales. I hadnt received final details of house numbers for the road from manager so emailed her today asking for the rest of the information. She then tells me the old rep has started doing this area and therefore i cant do these roads anymore :( I feel like i am standing on the other reps toes and misleading the customers who have obviously been messed around already. Other rep must think i am steeling her business. Was wondering why all my contact details were taken from the bags and probably so they can pass them onto their normal rep.

Anyway at least its sunny even though a little fresh. Have got one load of washing on the line so hope that dries soon

Ok well if things couldnt get any better now i have found out that the agency have not paid for OH's training so i am having to ring everyone and pressure them into paying it so OH can do his course. If i have known they were so bad at paying i would never have gone through them. The lady at the training place is really good and will hold course open as long as she can but they should have paid by today at the very latest! They still havent told us the course starts on 26th rather than 15th - glad we rang the trainers but not everyone would have. Shall not be recommending them. Now off to make yet more phone calls.

Lets hope things really dont come in 3's

Well a little update needed i think.
Yesterday i managed to get agency to pay for OH's training at last and have checked it went through ok. Training company are great and understand its not us causing the problems. All is comfirmed so happy about this - although once he has passed his course i think a stong worded letter to the agency is required - may even ask for a refund and see what happens as they havent really done anything and it was me chasing everything.

Avon order arrived and when checking yesterday morning i realised i was a box missing - not happy! I rang avon and there records show it was with the delivery people. The delivery people then phoned shortly after and told me something had leaked and it would need to be re-sent by friday (will wait and see). Very annoying that the only people that get messed around because of this are me new customers, not my regulars that i know quite well now. Anyway still delivering and hoping they will understand.

Going to sit down later and hopefully look at money. OH has had 2 days this week without work so next payday will be very grim. Also wont get any pay for next week as training - so things are looking very tight. Will also check what gifts i have got already for xmas and birthdays and can then cross a few bits off list.

Its also DD's birthday party on sat so am needing to organise food and cake. Will make a list online tonight i think and see if i can get anything with vouchers! Already paid for party and party bags (all on a very tight budget:)). I had a groupon voucher that i am using - cost £25 rather than £100 for the main part of party so thats the only reason i can afford it lol.

Other news 4 of my items have bids on them on ebay even if only £1. Still got a few days left and a lot of watchers so hopefully they will get a little more. Anyway must check other threads and stop rabbiting on:)
