SAHM paying off debts slowly

Hi everyone, today has had head spinning again, trying to think of jobs I could do that would stop the need for me being on benefits. When this happens i can save as much as i like and inherit as much as i like without having to spend it. To do this I would need a very well paid job for around here to match the amount of money I get, and for them to let me have school holidays off. My conclusion was there is very little employed work that fits the bill. My next thought was stay with employed and then top up with job from home, but not sure any hobby/ selling site I can do would make the difference. Anyway I have just this minute heard from the other lady at work that I job share with. She has resigned. So I guess for now I am the only admin. It was like this when I started, but boss merged the 2 settings so our hours were cut to accommodate both of us. Not sure if boss will advertise, but knowing her she will want to save the pennies and by only employing me for maybe a few extra hours it would save her money. Not heard from the boss as yet so will hold any more thoughts until I do. It does mean I may be able to bridge that gap a little more. We will see. I wonder if she would let me do the work from home?
Its so warm in our house today. We have a small issue of not being able to open all of our windows as they have stuck. OH's uncle fitted them and before lockdown was coming round to mend them, but that hasn't happened as yet. Hopefully soon though. Also found out OH is collecting kids at 9.30 on Saturday so I will have almost 2 whole days to myself. Normally he gets them around 1.30 to 2 ish, so I cant really go anywhere. Now he is collecting them early, there isn't really anywhere i can go! He has obviously missed them. He has asked what they want for dinner, so hopefully wont drag them around supermarket like every other time. He only has oven space for 1 tray so whatever it is, it has to fit on that one tray. Chicken wraps it is.
Still not managed to get my act together and rung Halifax to see if I can get mortgage at current rate. Must do this tomorrow.

Morning all, another day with much the same planned. School work, cleaning, eating! In fact we have our food delivery this evening, which is always a highlight of the week. The bin men woke me up very early so i know come half 3 i will be wanting to nap lol. I will ring bank today about mortgage so at least i know. DD is off to socially distance her friend for an hour or so. She is very excited. I tried to work out wages should my hours go up. I currently do 18 hours a week, and if i went up to 24 it would be beneficial, but if i then went 30 the increase was much less. I would also not have any days off and i think i would need it. If i could work from home for the other hours that would certainly help as working conditions are not great so not sure i could spend all of that time in dark room, although at least now i wont need to share desk. Anyway although the rest of the staff now know boss still not said anything so will assume nothing has changed.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I also spend time working out what I need to earn to come off benefits. For me I think I am able to up my income when youngest starts school in September and then I just need to keep increasing as the youngest two get older. From September 2021, I will only have two children in primary school, albeit in years 1 and 2, but that is when I need to start upping my income.
I hope you can manage to convince your boss to work some extra hours from home. It sounds like that would be better for you. I know a few mums who work from home and they change their lunch hour to fit the afternoon school run.3 -
Thanks Mumoffour. We actually get paid for our lunch hour as we don't stop. Probably not quite legal as some of the ladies are on the go for many hours. We sit with the children and eat at the same time as them so we are still on duty as such opening crisps and cleaning spills in between mouthfuls.
I am sure we will both get there one day. Still need to call bank re mortgage.

OK so I have contacted bank re mortgage and waitinf for them to call me back - hopefully not as the same time as the food delivery arrives. I have also seen that an old school friend has just adopted some more fish. I have been trying to get rid of our huge fish tank since OH left. I have asked her if she would like it - dirty water and all! She is going to ask her OH so fingers crossed it might be gone soon. Then i can rearrange the sofas to how i want thingsMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Good morning, what a miserable day outside. Feeling quite upbeat though so that's good. Halifax never got back to me yesterday so hoping they will today. I would like to know for my peace of mind if its possible to get the mortgage for here. I am also expecting OH to ask if i've sorted his money out when he collects the children Saturday, at the now later time of 11.30 (who would have guessed the time would have got later!). Its not showing on my account with the divorce people that he has sent the paperwork back as yet. Its also not showing on the child maintenance account as anything happening. Hopefully he will get a move on soon, or its just the backlog of post is taking its time.
House to tidy, school work and my work to do today. Older 2 have their music lesson online after lunch so need to get DS practicing before that!

OK had an initial call from the mortgage team. It was looking ok until I asked if my DMP would affect it even though it has been paid off for a few years now. Apparently if I took it out within the past 6 years (even if now paid off) it will be an automatic no from them. Rang step change who it was with and they are no unarchiving our file so I can get the start date. I am also now going to go back to the beginning of this diary and see if it gives me any idea of dates. The lady was lovely and said if I took it out more than the 6 years ago but hadn't paid it off it is better than taking it out less than 6 years ago and having paid it off. How does that work? Anyway back in time I go lolMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Defaults drop off your file at 6 years so that is why that is better than you taking it out more recently even if you have paid it off.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thank you, I have looked back - boy my OH was clueless and whipped him into shape - well better than he was shape, before he left. It looks like I signed it Nov 2011, so that should be ok. Can also see from my signature that its been over 2 years since I paid it off. The lady did say I could fill the application in online and get an instant answer. Might do that now I know it was over the set time. Will wait till I get laptop back after music lessonMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Application done and the answer is NO from Halifax. Not sure what to do next. Got an appointment with current lenders but not until 30th. I also know that they wont consider my benefits as income so unlikely they can do it. I also dont want to be applying for multiple mortgages as it will make credit file look worse. I know it was only a soft search, but still a search.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19
