Good morning to you all. Well we have returned after a busy yet relaxing (if you can have a relaxing hols with 3 kids and an OH!) holiday. I came back home with £100 left of holiday money but OH has taken that for his weeks expenses as he forgot his pin number and has locked himself out of his account until new number arrives. It is lovely to be home but yesterday with the bank account stress was not great. He also managed to reverse his trailer into the neighbours car so that now needs at least a new bumper - not sure how much that will be but i know its money we dont have spare.
The car made it to the holiday, 90th party and then home but its still drinking the oil so obviously not fixed (not sure what they really did do for the £100 i paid them). Anyway it looks like we wont be bothering to tax it come the end of the month as it will cost too much to repair. Will try to save a and get a car that doesn't have anything major wrong with it. Good job i have some comfy trainers as we will be walking for the forseable future.
Budget spreadsheet has therefore been tweeked and the only place i can try to reduce things is the food budget. Looks like another week or two of using up what we have left which is not a bad thing although we may get fed up of a few things
I am going to attempt to potty train my youngest at the end of this week / next weeks so wish me luck. Not sure if she is quite ready yet but hoping she may get the hang of it and then no more nappies. Must remember to get some treats bribery sweets to help it along! If it doesn't go to plan that's fine too i will just try again later in the year.
Right i am off to see if i can find any coupons as i haven't had a printer these past 2 weeks so might be some to print offHave a great day everyone

Hi slm, glad you had a nice holiday :j sorry to hear about the car
I don't blame you for saving for a new one, some are just too expensive to keep on the road with all the repairs they need. Do you have anything else planned for the holidays? I'm thinking of going to my mum's and then dad's houses for a few days each but aside from that nothing interesting, thankfully the weather has been so much better than last year
paddling pool, trampoline & tents have been the source of my two little ones entertainment all weekend nice and cheap

Hi there DFW thanks for popping by. We havent really got much planned other than trips to the library and local museum with friends (free as we have season ticket) for picnics. The local church where they all went to playgroup is running a holiday club the week before school so they will go to that each afternoon (its FREE yay). Were still doing our A-Z holiday like last year but it is a very relaxed one this year. Today is H and i decided that housework covers it all. I didnt get all the cleaning i wanted to do before the holiday so trying to fit it in today. We have next terms topics to look at too so Homework is another one for today (Vikings for DD and Dinosaurs for DS). Seems to have gone really quickly so far. Need to start looking at uniforms soon too. must go transfer housekeeping money too and check the banksMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Good morning. Well OH's insurance will be paying for the new bumper and wing for neighbour as it was more than 1k so need to find the excess - not even sure when that will need to be paid - will we get bill or will they just try to take it? Who knows best i ring up and ask to see how long i have to save.
We got most of the school uniform yesterday. Nana bought shoes for DD as she always seems to but tey were huge o her so i have swapped them. Got £30 worth of uniform with £15 of tesco vouchers so free kind of. I do this most years as its not real money that i then ave to find. Also made a small order of £20 ish pounds from Asda for the rest of it. Only thing i havent got is DS shoes as we need his feet measured. We did get some almost brand new shoes from a friend and i am hoping they will be the right size so free
Were all set for the potty training next week. treats bought, timer ready, training pants all washed ready and potty books from the library. Now if DD could just be ready too that would be great :)Think i may treat myself to some cola as i think i may need it plus we dont plan on going out of the house for a few days (its an intense potty training session were planning on:eek:)
Talking of the library both DD and DS have 1 more book to report on before they finish the reading scheme. They will keep reading afterwards of course but its another thing out of the way.
Today i need to make some cakey treats or flapjacks for lunches and also DD is going to make some bread using a viking recipe (looks the same but no yeast so bread is very dense). Also need to clean the house as it looks like pig sty as my mum would say. Looks a nice day outside but some very black clouds also heading our way - guess the washing wont get done todayMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Forgot to say DS had a drama friday night. He went into the kitchen and 'tripped' and fell apparently. His hand landed on the just used hob (back one so pretty sure he is not telling the truth!!) He wouldnt show me at first as he knew he shouldnt have done it but the pain got too bad. We spent the next 2 hours at least with hand in water and eventually got him to dry it so we could put burn cream on it. I really do not know what he was doing or why he thought he would touch it. Anyway after a sleeplass night of him in pain he has blisters on the end of each finger and palm and his thumb is prob the worst. I guess he wont do it again but its not what i needed whilst OH was still at work and the other kids needed to be in bed. Silly boy - but thankfully he is not is pain anymore and it should return to normal soonMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Oh no poor ds! My ds1 did this many years ago
we had to go to hospital though as it was pretty bad. I felt like an awful parent and the hospital had to call social as a procedure apparently (I'm sure it was more because I was a very young looking single mum at the time..) ever since I've panicked over letting kids anywhere near my kitchen without me in there
I hope your ds is ok
lavender oil will stop any scarring and aloe Vera will stop the burning sensation xx
P.s my dd has just done the reading scheme she was pleased as punch to get a medal lol even though I read most of the stories as she struggles with big words stillour library is rubbish for not having any starter books in so we ended up with books meant for way above her level (which is cat sat on the mat type thing! ) oh well she's not bothered so guess I shouldn't be

DFW I must admit to mainly telling youngest DD not to touch as hot so i guess DS has forgotten! I did previously tell DS too though:) Thankfully we were able to deal with it at home as i didnt fancy trapsing up a&e on a friday night with 3 young children in tow, plus i am not sure car would have made it.
I have read most of the books too for DS as like your DD he is not quite ready for most of the books that they have. We dont get our medals though until sept 15th as they have a reward ceremony for all the children that have done it which is quite nice.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Hello there it is yet again a new month and bills have gone out but still a few pounds in the bank so cant complain. We dont go back to school here until thursday and to be honest i think we have all had enough now and are ready to go back. Uniforms have be bought as needed (using dedicated uniform pot
). Car ran out of tax sat so now we dont have a car as it is being sold to scrap yard - quite surprised it lasted to the end of the month to be honest. I treated myself to a good quality rain coat as i will be walking in all weathers. It was £23 and i felt really guilty for spending that amount of money on me even though i did need it.
We are trying to cut things back again this month just so we can try to get ahead with a few of the savings pots. At least the food bill should go down as they will be back at school.
Will also be clearing the whole house of clutter as i feel it is just getting on top of me at the moment - may take a while but guess i am not able to go anywhere
also got my appointment through for my consultation at the hospital for my teeth - 1st oct. guess that will be a trip on the bus and train. OH doesnt reckon we will be getting a car until after christmasMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Is it bed time yet? We've had a busy day here. We started off by swimming with friends (they kindly drove us in their big car) and as i had a voucher and because kids do lessons it only cost me £3 plus they treated us to lunch in the cafe. I tried to pay but she would not let me - will have to repay her next time.
We then came home for an hour and dad popped by. He gave me £60 for the kids swimming lessons. I have already paid for them and had money put by so pondering if i should keep it as money for next weeks food and bits or if i should bank it for next time?
We then went up towards the school (how i hate that hill and i am very much out of practice as only been up that way 3 times over the hols) to the park where we met up with friends again. DS made a 'friend' with an older boy who then proceeded to knock youngest DD to the floor with his bike - One fat lip later and grazes up and down her legs, blood everywhere 'friend' went away. Friends DS then flew over his bike handlebars and has required gluing back together at the dr's. We looked after the DD whilst friend was at drs. They have just left and dinner now on. I really need some diet coke but no chance to go out and get any and OH not home tonight so guess i will have to make do with squash!
Soon hoping to get kids into bed - was really hoping to keep this week for relaxing rather than rushing around everywhere. Tomorrow we are supposed to be meeting other friend at another park for picnic but wonder if we might cancel and relax before school on thursday. Plus if i go near town i may spend the £60 on something
Hope everyone else had a better day than meMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19
