Well the tooth saga with DD is still ongoing. We are visiting dentist every other day to monitor how it is until appointment comes through to have it out. I also have to make the extra trip to the school each lunchtime to administer medicine. Needless to say life is slightly on hold at the moment. Having said that the washing machine man came today. It was an older man that obviously knew what he was talking about and basically said the complete opposite of the previous bloke that turned up took one look at machine and disappeared! He has replace the rubber seals and apparently that should stop all of the gunk going onto out clothes - it was nothing to do with the bearings at all! Mind you i have not yet tested it out as run out of washing liquid until 1st :)

Not been very budget conscious lately but really need to as only have about £20 spare this month once bills have gone though. Food and bits keep running out - fish food was finished today and bin bags and pepper. Little things just all this month. Oh well will write a list and try to keep within budget.

We are trying out a new chores / reward system with the older children. They do their rooms / homework etc without making a fuss and also helping me around the house and they get 10p per day. If all week ok then they get bonus 30p making it upto £1 per week. Half goes into their savings account and half they can spend. I thought it would teach them how to save and also budget as they cant really buy much with such little amounts. I dont really agree with paying them for something they should do already but also hoping the incentive might make it a little easier. I have looked into building society accounts with passbooks this week as i would like them to see the money in the books and they can see it growing rather than having a statement every 6 months or so. I am hoping to open them asap this week so we can have it ready for this weeks payout.

Well i best get off to bed as so tired at the moment - night night all :)

Hello to you all. Well since my last post we have been busy here. I have opened a building society account for all three children but as of yet they have not earnt anything to go in them. They have a good hour or so then are so naughty i end up taking it away again. Need to sit them down and explain a little better i think.

Food budget - i am now at a stage where i can take out the money for the month from the 1st payday of each month. This is good but as i have it in my purse i seem to be spending it a little quicker than i need to or rather should be doing. I think i will withdraw it all next month but only put a weeks worth in the purse each time to try and spread it correctly over the month.

We are still having problems with DD's teeth. We are on day 20 of medicine from dentist and still no sign of a date to have teeth out. Apparently it may now be 2 teeth rather than 1 as originally thought and it will probably be whilst she is awake rather than put out as thought. They keep changing their mind. I am not very good with teeth and dentist which is why i have so many problems with mine, so i really do not know how i will be there for her if she is not put out. I will be passed out on the floor i reckon. Anyway i am trying not to think about it until i need to or i will start the panic attacks early.

Anyway we had a great bank hol weekend and the weather somehow was lovely. We went to local museum who had robin hood day with archery and making robin hood hats for the kids. They also had a maypole that the kids joined in with. We took a picnic so the only cost was for them to do the archery. We also had a christening, a trip to Mac D's with my dad (free as he paid :)), a walk round local lake and a trip to the street fair in a local village. All this on top of the normal swimming lessons ment for a very busy weekend. We were all exhausted and kids went back to school with plenty to write about but still tired.

Washing machine was mended and then broke again so has been mended again. Hoping that i will be ok for a little while longer now.

Sure there is loads more to tell but as i cant think of anything else at the moment i will leave it there. Have a great evening :)

I have a few pots with savings in but they are for car and xmas etc so nothing for new machine. Luckily i have insurance for the machine so all costs are covered. I have only had it a short while so it has already paid for itself as call out for man was going to be over £100 and that was before all the parts i have had put in. Mind you if much else goes wrong with it, it will probably be cheaper for them to replace it rather than repair it. Still dont understand why they would agree to a machine that is over 7 years old as most dont last that long these days.

And yes toothache is horrid. I get no warning when mine strikes as it has done several times this month. I do feel that i am going to have to go back and be referred again as it is getting more and more frequent. They were willing to sedate me last time but i had so many panic attacks as the appointment got closer and closer i cancelled it. I need to be knocked out completely for me to have it done as i can do that. I dont care what they do then, but they say that it is not necessary so wont give me a GA.

Well hello - tried to update yesterday but silly computer wiped my post. Anyway i have been spending. Not much in one go but many little things that soon mount up so money is tight. I will still stay in the black but by pennies only.

We have bought a new car rather than mending and putting old car through the MOT as it would have taken more money than we have. New car is still pretty much a banger but has a years mot and tax til aug. Not got the car yet even though we have paid for it. Hoping anyday though as tax runs out on friday for old car. The people we are buying it off are awaiting their new car but the mother is in hospital so they need it. We know them well so know it is safe to hold on. My only concern is that petrol light has just gone on and i really dont want to put anymore in old car. Hoping to get call soon so we can go and collect.
We were able to pay for this out of the car fund pot so no having to find money from elsewhere which was good.

Its wet and misserable here but we have still been for a walk. My feet are still cold and damp even though we have changed clothes since getting home. Were all tucked up under blankets keeping warm. I have laptop to are benefiting from extra heat :)

Spoke to step change who we have our DMP with. I needed to do my annual review but was waiting until the tax credits had been sorted. Well they still haven't but with tools on here i have estimated and used that figure. We will only be paying an extra £10 per month but it will wipe off the depts 1 year quicker so that cant be bad. Will update if necessary once tax credits through.

I have also booked some train tickets using the free vouchers that i got from Mr T for redspottyhanky. I have combined these with another free voucher i had and the free family and friends pass i signed up for. Train tickets for us all came to £19 so free with the £20 of vouchers i had yay. We will be off at the begining of the summer hols to visit some museums in town about an hour away by car. It should be a free day and hopefully by then the sun will be out. We will take our picinic bags and blanket and enough juice for the day so wont need to buy anything hopefully. Have also managed to tie it in with our A-Z summer hols the kids want to do again :)

Yay i have the car - very happy here. Just need to give it a good clean. OH has done well as i thin it should have cost much more that £300. There are a few bits that need sorting but hoping it will last a little while longer. Plus a bonus of half a tank of petrol!

I still seem to be spending money like i have loads. I just cant seem to stop - food seems to vanishing with kids on hol. Were off in a min to look at DD preschool that is opening in the new community centre near us. Then were off to local museum for kids to have a run around with friends whilst me and their mum have a good natta - not seen her all week. Should all be free as we will take drinks and snacks. Right must get a move on as it will be time to go soon :)

  • Hi Slm :) hope you had a good time with your mum. And glad car is nice. My friend buys a new car every year. She gets an old banger off the road with a full years mot and tax and then sells on again at end of that year and buys a new one! I should try this am just worried i'll get a dodgy one, she never has though :T

Agree about money going out as quick as it comes in esp on the hols! Back to normality next week ;)

Yay we have made it to the end of half term and i have not cracked. It has been a challenge with the older 2 this time bickering over anything. Today was a NSD even though i didnt plan on it. I wrote a shopping list and went to get purse but cant find it anywhere. I know i had it in Mr T's yesterday but still cant find it. By this time it was coming up for 4pm so shops where shutting so no point even borrowing money off OH. If i cant find it tonight i may have to cancel cards and wait for new card to arrive. There was around £20 in there too so will be gutted if i cant find it. Anyway i thin a few more NSD's to come.

DD moved up swimming groups yesterday so had to spend money on badge and certificate and it means i will now have to entertain youngest DD for hour and half whilst the others swim as times have changed. Shame the creche is not open on sats. Will see how we go. Have asked it there are any classes at DS level at same time so will wait and see if anything turns up.

OH went out in the car for the first time today and agrees it is a little juddery. He thinks it is something expensive to fit but will keep us going for now.

DFW hi - i had a lovely time with mum here but it already seems so long ago. This year is flying by. Well must go and try to clean a space so i can get on with some work :)

Well OH has only just returned from the pub and is now depositing his hard earned money in the bucket i gave to him just in time! I sound mean but he will stay so long rather than going for a few and then coming home for dinner. It happens every week although varying degrees of drunkeness. He earnt some money last night ferring people to and from a wedding so had some spare money. Some people would have used it for debts some for a nice treat, my OH for throwing up!

Sorry rant over. Have just cancelled debit card too so at least i know no one can spend on it if i did drop it in Mr T's. Will need new clubcard too and museum pass but no other money type cards. I can also get money over the counter tomorrow so should be ok.

Right off to clear up after OH then up to bed. Night night all x
