SAHM paying off debts slowly

Good morning to you all. Well i am back after not haveing time to think whilst mum was here. She went home last thursday and we are only just getting back to normal. We had a very good time but we are all exhausted so will be nice to get back to routien of school tomorrow.
Sun has finally arrived and yesterday i had my 1st lot of washing out on the line to dry. Hopefully that will be it now and the tumble dryer can go into hybernation until winter time and save some pennies. I have relied on it a lot this winter (1st winter with one) even though i was against them at first because of the money. It has been lovely to be on top of laundry and not have to live around dryers all winter.
Need to source a lawnmower as ours broke 2 summers ago and we have been borrowing (not very often) the mother in laws in turn for cutting her grass. Well that is a days work for OH even before ours is done so not doing it anymore - they have also been ignoring us unless they need something so enough is enough now.
Money is tight as spent a little too much on luxuries whilst mum was here and had no kind of meal plan as such. We have half a tank of petrol which i hope will last until end of month - should do unless OH borrows it for a trip somewhere - plus (wait whilst i count purse!) £53.62 for food till the end of the month. I did the weekly shop yesterday so should be good until next weekend. Guess we will use up lots of our storecupboard whilst its tight. Back on plan next month when things will hopefully improve. Got OH's final wages so know how much we have earnt. More than expected but noot by a huge amount. Hopefully tax credits wont go down too dramatically and i have budgeted for less rather than more. When kids back at school i will ring CCCS or whatever they are called now to discuss yearly review.
Our washing machine has been leaving marks on our clothes and as i pay insurance i rang them again the other day and they finally sent someone out ( it has been going on for a while and they said it was because it was dirty). Well the man came around at 8am (quite a shock as were not used to early mornings in the hols) and spun the drum a few times and straight away told me the bearings were going. We are now waiting to see if they want to replace it or repair it. As i have already paid for insurance i shouldnt have to pay anything thnakfully as i really dont have spare money for that. I am secretly hoping on a new machine but trying not to get hopes up. It has done pretty well as it was a wedding pressie and we will have been married 8 years come june.
Well i must get on as kids are starting to run riot and we have lost DD plimsoles from her PE bag. Have a great day and hopeully the sun is shinning for you allMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I've been trying to get back into a routine too after having MIL over, me being at mums & dads house and I am just waiting for the kids to go back to school now!
I have also over spent on needless carp this easter. When i was at mums house we went for a wander round the shopping centre as it was raining and I ended up spending £40£20 was on birthday presents for kids parties this month and wrapping paper but the other £20 was on utter rubbish- oops! Then at dad's house I felt obliged to pay for a meal out as he seems to eat every meal out of the house (grr) and that was £70 down the drain! So i'm over £100 down now on food money for the month, no idea where I will find that yet!

Think i am going to have to call them again soon as they were supposed to contact me today but still not heard anything. I am so impatient. Its a good job it is still working (even if it does cover half of the clothes in gunk) or i would have had 5 days so far with no machine - not good with 3 kids and a very grubby OH
I think i need to write a new list of things i need to get done ready for tomorrow once they are at school. House is a tip but know it will be easier once only 1 little one is home so leaving it for now - that is really lazy of meMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Ok just rang them and they have ordered parts to repair my machine - knew i shouldnt get my hopes up re new sparkling machine. Oh well at least it should work once repaired. Still not sure how long it may take but looks like it will be a few more days as yet.
Also forgot to say i found £2 on floor of swimming pool earlier - guess someone dropped them whilst getting changed. Bonus for the food budgetMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Good morning everyone. I am having a lazy day today as not feeling as bright as normal - sore tummy all night so not the best nights sleep i have had.
I got my sewing machine out last night and have started to cut my material for my patchwork quilt. I have had all of the bits for sometime but never seem to get round to actually doing it. I would also like to try crochet sometime this year. I didnt actually get any sewing done but hopefully in the next few evenings maybe i will find some time.
I am also trying again to loose weight. We have got a family reunion / surprise party in August and i wold like to be a few stone lighter by then if possible. I have around 5 stone to loose but i will be happy if i can loose a few by summer and then i will work on the next few before xmas. I also need to find 90th birthday pressie - i have no idea at the moment.
Still not heard from washing machine people - they dont seem to like ringing me!
Spent some of my xmas money yesterday on a new printer. Our old old one has finally given up (about 2 months ago) and i have been researching what is cheapest and also has cheap ink. I have gone for an epsom and am happy with that. I have ordered some spare ink at extra cheap prices so i have it ready and dont need to go to asdas and pay extra for it (even there it is cheap though). Well i only have a little more xmas money left so will keep it safe for my luxuries that are not budgeted for. Well i am off to have a little clean up before returning to the sofa. Hope everyone is wellMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Good evening to you all. Well another busy week for us here. Washing machine people are coming to repair it next monday so still not working well. I spoke to them and apparently that is the earliest they can do.
Tummy recovered as soon as it came but the past few days i have been suffering with terrible tooth ache. Its starting to improve and as long as i keep taking the painkillers its a lot better. I really wish i didnt have such a terror of going to the dentist. Got to take my DD along tomorrow morning for emergency appointment as her teeth are aching and she looks like a hamster on one side of her face today. I am hoping it is nothing too serious and its just her big teeth coming in. If it is anything else i think i will need to get OH to take her back at the weekend as it makes me feel queezy just being there.
Anyway onto money - i have put this months savings into each of the pots and only have 1 more payment going out this month. Then if nothing goes wrong there should be one more payment from OH and money ready for 1st May. Cant believe its nearly May already. Really not sure where the time is going. Still not received my tax credit forms yet so dont know how things will go.
Planted our potatoes the other day and they are already popping up out of the soil so will add some more in the next few days. Today i also planted tomatoes, cress and salad leaves. Hoping to have a few salad type items this year to help save some pennies and to help with the weight loss.
I have been looking into booking a travelodge for my aunts 90th party in aug. If i book the one nearest the party it is around £68 but if i book the one near her house (45 min away) then its £28. How can it be so different? It is easy to decide i guess - will book it through cash back site so i will get some money back i guess. Still need to work out what to get her for her pressie. Any ideas gladly receivedMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Morning hun
Well I'm rubbish with presents so have no idea! Although I know which travelodge i'd go with lol (obv. the cheapest :money:)
Did you get the washing machine fixed in the end? And how is your quilt coming along? I hope we can see a pic at the end :T:jMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Morning all. DFW i wont get the washing machine until monday (it better work after that or i will be on the phone yet again). The quilt is still very much in the preperation stages - cutting out squares. Not sure when i will actually get to sew them together but hoping it will be soon:)
Had horrid morning so far as had to take DD to the dentist. Yesterday her face swelled up so she looked like a hamster. She has been saying her teeth hurt for a week or so now but her friend had the same thing and it was just big teeth coming through so we put it down to that until now. Well her tooth is so rotten that it needs to come out. Feel such a bad mum - we brush teeth twice a day and dont have too many sweets but she just doesnt have a lot of luck with her teeth. About 3 months ago she had to have her first filling and now this. We have got some penecillin however you spell it and we need to go back friday so they can have a better look and take an xray. Then in a few weeks we will be off to hospital to have it out. She is not happy about it coming out but at least it will be in hospital and she will know nothing about it. I try so hard not to show my complete fear of dentists so they dont end up like me but i could quite easily have been sick just sitting in the waiting room today and it wasnt even me they were seeing. Anyway touch wood my poorly tooth is feeling a little better (wish they would agree to knock me out to sort them all out) and i will keep up with the pain killers for few more days as yet until it has settled down.
Well i have less than £2 in my purse for food until 1st May - not sure i will make it - i may need to borrow a little from one of the pots. I knew it would be tights as mum was here the 1st half of the month and we always spend more then. Think we may just need milk and bread but thinking about it we do have some in the freezer i think so may get away with it. Had to buy apples today for DS as he wont eat any other fruit.
Right must go and hang washing out - then up to school for next dose of medicine for DD. Think i am going to be forward and back for the next week or so - well the walk will do me goodMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Also bit of a bonus up town whilst out with DD i wanted to swap a pair of cheap summer shoes for the same ones i had last year. I took them to the counter and asked to swap them for the pair i bought last week in the sale. They still had the sale ticket attached and i had my purse ready as the ones i wanted were £2 dearer. She said i didnt need to pay as they had gone back up to the original price and therefore they were the same price even though i only paid the sale price. Bargain and i still have my £2 in my purse
Also the other day we counted the penny pot (our icecream fund for the holiday) and there was £35.97. Not bad for pennies found on our daily walks and hubbys cars he strips:)
