SAHM paying off debts slowly

Been into town today to get a few basics - yoghurts , bedtime nappies (use washables during the day) and squash - so only a few pounds worth but forgot the bread - got rolls im freezer so i guess that will do.
Did our weekly visit to library so kids could do summer challenge - whilst there DD's eyes were hurting after reading only a few pages to the lady - she said she prob needs glasses - we only had eye test end of june and at that point they were perfect after a few years of being almost perfect - well on way home i went and booked another eye test for her so we will see in a few weeks.
OH will be home in alittle while so he can deliver my last lot of Avon - still owe them money. Cant wait to owe no-one money and have an emergency potMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Avon delivered, so now can pay manager for bits. OH actually gave me money as his insurance now isnt needed so i get money for bill - yay. As i mentioned earlier i told OH not to get me a car as we cant afford it and i dont need one - he agreed and then came home today and informed me that he has got me a car - it has mot and only needs tax, painting and a new wing - how on earth does he think we can afford it. He believes he can sell the old car in parts on ebay to pay for it - i dont think it will happen but hope he hasnt already agreed to buy it - on a plus side its so old we can get classic insurance which is cheaper than what we are paying currently! As long as he can pop to lidl for me once a week for coke potatoes and washing liquid i dont need a car. He seems really please with himself and i know if i say we dont need it he will go into sulk mood and not talk about it - ho hum

morning slm
i use frozen mince sometimes and it's fine. I prefer frozen lambs mince rather than beef as it seems less fatty but both are fine and much better if you are wasting some on usual portion sizes
Glad you liked the AF order we've still got tonnes left and everything is good quality.
I am going to need a new car soon have no idea how i will pay for it or the insurance (i'm keeping the car tax card i've been loading each month though) xx

Hi dfw thanks for the advice on the mince - think i will try it out once we do another big shop. Is OH keeping the family car - guessing you will still be able to use it until he gets back off tour? Another reason i guess to stay put and get that savings pot filled. I do hate cars. My OH didnt even mention the car last night, but think it is ours when we get it sorted.
Our problem today is our fish tank - since getting back off holiday we have had 3 of our fish die - not sure if it is one of the bigger fish biting them or chasing them or what really but its getting quite empty in there at the moment. We have cleaned it regulary so dont think water is imbalanced or anything and they arent that old as far as i am aware - kids not too worried though and i guess its teaching them that we all die sooner or later! Sorry to be so morbid.
Anyway we went swimming this morning with my sister - 45 min walk uphill there and a very slow walk home as all worn out. I paid for the adults (kids free as have swimming lessons) as she had paid for our holiday i thought that was only fair. We off for dinner later with my dad, step mum, brother and wife and sister and hubby - plus me and my kids - not OH as he doesnt do meals out or step mum! Anyway its going to be yummy and my dad is treating us so all free - i am really looking forward to it - that sounds so sad.
Hope your all having a great dayMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Hi slm just spied your diary & will work my through over the next couple of days!:D
Chuckling at your DH with the car ..... typical man!
Re the fish tank .... sorry if this sounds awful .... how big is it & is it heated? Reason for asking is my pals had this beautiful tank (from free*cycle) and wonderful fish ..... but it ended up costing nearly £50 / month  in electricity to run the pumps, filters, heaters, lights etc. It did look beautiful but was an expensive hobby & ended up being free*cycled on again!
Hope you have a lovely dinner tonight - and not sad at all to be looking forward to it.:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Hi there and welcome to my ramblings on
I havent actually worked out the cost of electric but have been taking regular meter readings and its not stupidly different - now need to allow for the fact that i will sometimes be using the tumble dryer although i am trying not to use it for easiness and only for when it is truely miserable outside. Although i will do towels in it as i love how soft they are afterwards:)
Meal was lovely - great seeing everyone and yummy food - portions were quite small but still enough to satisfy. Step mum must have mum dad on a diet i think - she chose for him and told him he wasnt allowed pudding. They had some veggi option and then step mum half way through said 'theres no meat in this one dear' really - stupid woman - as you can prop tell were still not very keen on here, its more that we put up with her for dad. You could tell dad didnt think much to his meal and he was longing for a pudding.
I am going to tidy the house today - kids have been sent to their rooms and i am going off to kitchen in a min to start there. Need meat out of freezer for curry tonight. Wondering if this cleaning is going to be possible with DD2 running around undoing everything.
Right must get off here and start or it will never get done - have a good day everyoneMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Run out of coke again and i have zero get up and go - apart from clothes being washed and line dried nothing much else has been completed. DS i am sure has done nothing to his room, and if anything it has been made worse - havent seen floor now for weeks but refuse to do it yet again for him because as soon as i do he covers floor again within days. He is old enough to put toys in a box. I put his clothes away but at the mo cant even get to the drawers. Have taken all toys out of his room before but he doesnt care and just likes having the space to roll around in - not sure what to do next other than actually getting rid of everything!
Anyway we might walk to lidls in a little while just to get some coke in the hope it might give me a boost to finish house. I just want a nap at the moment
Friend comes home from her hols today so we can hand hamster back and clear the kitchen side where she has had to live for the past 2 weeks - so far she has been ok - just hoping she makes it home ok as i know it was touch and go at one point whether we would have her or not as she is getting old!Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Good morning everyone. Had a fairly cheap weekend so far. Bought a few essentials food wise and had no choice but to buy some stamps as OH had some important paperwork that needed sending off for his cars. He was supposed to race yesterday but came home disappointed as they couldnt make it work properly so he didnt get on the track. Waste of time IMO but he enjoys it. He was drenched but i am sure at home here we hardly got any rain.
Have already made choc cornflake cakes for lunch. I plan on making some other bits later when i cook dinner - will fill oven up and save on elec. Got a busy week coming up and i reckon quite a few picnics so need cakes / flapjacks etc for them. I know i have some pastry at the bottom of the freezer - might hunt that out and make some cheese straws with thte parmasan cheese thats starting to look a little old in the fridge! I am so determind to stick to budget at the moment. I am going to get back into meter readings / recording each week so i can keep track on the elect we are using. I am quite concerned that with the tumble dryer being here i might get too used to using it rather than waiting for better weather. If i can see were using too much elec it might help me to stop if it gets out of hand.
OH wants to take kids out for the day to a farm about hour and half away and tickets alone will cost £50 ish. It is so nice that he actually wants to take them somewhere but we dont have that kind of money to waste. Its all irrelivant at the moment anyway as we have no way to get there as we have no car, but i need to let him down gently so he will still want to spend time with them, but cheaply. I said perhaps when we go my sisters next year we can stop there for the day on the way down as its that direction - plus we will have holiday money saved by then. To be honest they would appreciate their dad taking them to the local park just as much.
Anyway will need £2 on tue for museum activities - making bird feeders and plants for birds (£1 per child) and prob need more fruit, milk and bread although may try making some myself in bread machine. Think i prob have plently of main meal bits in for the next week although need to have a sort through and see.
Found out yesterday that next door is moving so annoying child wont be here much longer - just need a quiet person with no car to move in! We have a big problem re parking down our road, and as our house is at the end and allocated several spaces we often have people parking in our spaces. Our current neighbours dont drive and any visitors park on the side of the road so not a problem. They recently told agents that rubbish on end of land was ours in the attempt to get deposit back when infact it had nothing to do with us. They eventually cleared it but another pile has just appeared. Waiting on letter as i know they have been to inspect house ready for move!
Right off to read a few more blogs for insperation and must go look and see what were having for dinner laterMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Well i didnt get much of what i wanted to do today as i was too tired - i was silly and stayed up watching a film i had already seen and reading blogs on here. That will teach me so tonight i will be in bed at a reasonable time
I was thinking and have decided that i need a frugal neighbour - that way they may not have a car, we can swap things we have inexcess or we can share postage on bulk buying from AF. I can sew and bake and they might be good at DIY for example - would be great to have a neighbour like that. I guess i will have to wait and see.
Anyway had a very warming dinner or sausage, mash and veg with syrup sponge and custard. Not good for the weight loss but very yummy
