SAHM paying off debts slowly

Well i aproached the subject of the DMP again with OH and he said it is upto me so after a lot of checking with him and thinking on my side i have decided it is our only way forward. I am going to speak with them and ask them to set everything up for us today. I understand that it may take a little while to set up but if by any chance we happen to get a decent paid job in the meantime we can take another look at it maybe. At least the decision has been made and we can go forward from here. Now i just need to start changing banks etc over to my safe bank and making sure all DD's are from new account so they dont get left behind.
Spent all morning sorting out OH's insurance and ordering a new V5 so we can tax in friday hopefully.
I cant wait to get it all sorted and hopefully life will start to become easier for us - although i know it will take a few months, hopefully 2012 will be betterMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

well done on making a decision
now begins the nightmare of getting together all the statements lol. I was awful when I first started on my dmp...I found most of my up to date statements in a drawer still in their envelopes...i was too scared to open them
!!
Hope you get it all sorted soon! Expect to have a few busy days on the phone changing dd's and payments etc
but :T so glad you've made your decision, i know how hard it's been for you xxMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. thanks it has been 50:50 in my mind and still not sure OH on board fully but as he said it was my decission so he will just have to go with it. Not looking forward to everyone chasing us up but will also ask them to put everything in writing so i have it rather than phoning me and getting in a tiz about things. Lets all hope they agree to stopping interest and charges so we can start paying things off. Now to cancel all DD's from my bank account so i can have a few more pennies to pay mortgage
This will be my turning point and if i get to the stage where i need reminding it will all be fine please let me know. Thanks

thanks for that. I have cancelled all dd's to debtors from my account and i think the next one that was due is at the end of this week so i guess thats when the phone calls will start. I will spend tomorrow printing out letters and attaching a £5 token cheque to each one and get those sent off. Also need to ring and get tax credits and child benefit into new account - actually might do that now as kids watching a film are are fairly quiet!Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

hi slm! Big decision. Hopefully this will take some pressure off and leave you a bit more money for life's basics. You can always increase your payments later if your OH manages to get and keep a job. Are you going it alone or thro CCCS or similar charity?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi i thought i better update as its been a while.
I am doing DMP through CCCS as i have heard a lot of good things about them. I have finally printed most of the bits off that i need to as only just got ink in post so will be getting OH to sign later and send off in the morning. I am unsure what to send for my income as i dont bank the profits as such into the bank from my avon. I just use it for groceries most of the time so no evidence on bank statements. Guess i need to do a spreadsheet showing business expenses and income and make prfofit into weekly amounts for them. I hope this is enough evidence for them and creditors. OH has a whole weeks worth of work this week including saturday so this makes up a little for the lack of full weeks over the last month.
Really not sure how we are still coping but i am greatful for my good grocery stores and the huge amount of winter planning that i have done upto now - although would really love to be able to afford the curtain poles for the kitchen so i can actually get them up on the windows to keep what heat we have in. I am refraining from putting heating on at the moment but i think come bath time i will have to put it on for a while as its becoming so cold now. Little ones seems to not care as they are always well dressed and snuggly in bed but me and OH must be getting old (34 and 31 - oh dear) as we are the cold ones. I look forward to getting into bed to get warmI do have over £100 on gas and elec account so not too worried about putting heat on but realise its going to be a long winter and dont want to be paying it off for most of next year too.
Car needs MOT as from today so i am back to walking everywhere - only had use of car for about 3 days so got most of what needed doing any distance away while i had it. Am hoping OH can mend a few bits on Sunday and then we can get it done asap after that. Although OH has his truck back it can only fit 3 people in it so not suitable for going anywhere in, but at least he has it for work now as public transport doesnt tie in with his hours.
Half term is fast approaching and DS birthday is on tuesday - need to sort out what we are getting him. Think i have enough bits and pieces that i wont need to spend anything so that will save a few pennies. He will be 4 so i can just about get away with not getting too much for him without him asking. Must look and see if museum is doing anything for half term as we can walk there and back with not too much moaning!
Well lots to do as kids have yet again trashed the house. Also need to work out whats for dinner and get it out of the freezer if needed.
Have a great day everyone and thanks for reading my mamouth postMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

after deep cleaning my house the other day, all it took was my 2 year old and 10 mins and the entire house looks like a bomb has gone off, pfft!
Hope you hear something back from cccs soon, did you call them regards your income and no proof? Do you not have the receipts from where you paid avon? I haven't done it for so long i can't quite remember if that would prove how much the order was and how much you made from it? Perhaps you can call avon and ask them to send you a letter as proof? surely it would just be a case of them printing some bits off and sending to you. Last thing you want is cccs or a creditor saying the evidence you provide is not enough...
I am so cold this morning i was very tempted with the heating. But that's what hot water bottles, socks and nightgowns were invented for as me dear old granny used to say. I shall now be adopting this approachand the kids will hate me no doubt till i crack and put the heating on lol! We also still owe from last year so no credit on our account  so even more determined to hold out as long as possible!

Sorry to hear about your car - hope you manage to get it sorted.
I agree with you at 4 you can get away with not buying a lot and they have no concept of cost anyway. Even at 8 my DD says quantity matters as much as quality LOLAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Not much to mention today other than i am now up to 7 NDS i beleive. Got a busy day today so must go write a to do list in a min. OH has mended the car we think so now off to find somewhere that we can get MOT done and hopefully have it pass. Will tel them not to do any work to it if not up to MOT standard and we will have to go with out the car until we can afford to fix it.Well must get onMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19
