they wouldn't mention in - when I was preg with my son and booking in with the mw they did ask if I had any previousl pregnancy and I mentioned it cos partner at the time know but it doesn't affect any future pregnancies so woudl be no need to

Just been thinking about something, and obviously this is going to be on my record. Would this ever get mentioned again in front of possible partners?

I mean I may tell them, but I also may chose not to! and I don't really want a doctor blurting it out in the middle of a consultation.

I was asked at my booking appt with the midwife about whether this was my first pregnancy and had I had a termination or miscarriage. My husband was there at the time, and I did think about people who had had them and their partners not knowing. If you are prepared for that then I guess you could ensure that it's addressed when partner isn't present.

I would concur that you will likely be asked at your booking appointment if you have a child in the future (it's your first appointment with a midwife when they do family history etc). You could arrange to go to this by yourself or with a friend. However I personally think being open an honest with a partner is always the best way to go. Take me as I am, they say :)

Patient confidentiality would prevent them doing that. If you want a future partner to know that is your business and no-on elses.

She said they will also help me decide which type of treatment to have. She said there is the tablet treatment in which they give me a tablet to take which makes me miscarry. They send you home straight away with this and she said you will just bleed very heavily. She said the other treatment is the suction method where I will be put to sleep completely and takes all day.

I didn't realise they actually put you under for it? I assumed you were just sedated slightly?

Now just waiting for the call, she said it would come any time this week.

I had an abortion when I was 19 and a university student. I was about 9-10 weeks gone and it was a D&C under general anaesthetic. I went in at 7am and they let me leave at about 2pm the same day. I felt rough that day and the next, quite stomach crampy (like very bad period pains) but I was back at work by the 2nd day after the surgery.

FWIW I didn't get any counselling, though I was offered it. I knew I was making the right choice as I wasn't in the right position to have a baby. I've never for a moment regretted the decision I made, though I regret being so careless as to allow myself to get pregant in the first place (not saying you were careless btw, accidents happen for any number of reasons, but I was).

Good luck with it all <hugs>

This is exactly the same as my experience.
