Glad you have a friend to help you.
Try not to worry about it too much, you'll be fine.
One helpful hint I would say is that they tell you you will bleed afterwards 'like a heavy period'. But actually it varies a lot from person to person from experiences I know of ....some people hardly bleed at all, but others I know have been a bit surprised by what happened, so have plenty of night time pads at home ready and be prepared for more than your normal 'heavy period' just in case. One friend was getting through a heavy night time pad every 15 minutes for a few hours, rang up and was told that was normal, so the hospitals idea of a heavy period isn't exactly the same as mine!
I'm not saying this to scare you, but just to make sure you have enough at home in case. She had to ring a mate to go shopping for her...Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

I'm pleased you're finding it so straighforward. Wishing you well..................

If I could make a suggestion.. get enough food in for a couple of days.. anaesthetics can really take it out of you and you will feel like you have been through the wringer and maybe a bit sore so shopping will be the last things you will want to do for a day or 3. (unless you are like me and I went to B&Q on the way home lol)
and alcohol is best avoided the day before and a couple of days after as it does effect blood clotting.
It will all be straight forward I'm sure.
As per the post above, I didn't bleed much at all the rest of the day but woke up in the night pouring so it can be messy.
And I know you are sure but you can change your mind at any point up to the anaesthetic being administered.

Heretolearn and pigpen are giving you great advice.

Nowt wrong with pot noodles and couscous with meatballs for a couple of days while you get back on your feet. (Avoid anything with a preparation time of more than 5 mins

Hello all.
Well it's done. I thought you'd all like to hear.
I arrived at the centre at 7:30 and had to see the nurse to take my details, then met my surgeon who placed in a pessary to get things 'loosened up', then met my anethiatist, then had another talk with 2 nurses (there was a lot of talking).
At about 9:30 I got took into the anethiatist room and was given the needle in the hand and then told to breath deeply on an oxygen mask. Next thing I knew it was 10:00 and I was being wheeled into the ward. It was my first experience of being put under and was rather surreal!
But I felt a bit crampy but other than that all ok. They kept me in for about an hour and made me have a cup of tea, some sandwiches and some chocolate biscuits. Lol. One by one other women were wheeled in (about every 10 minutes) and it was nice as the few around me where very friendly and we got talking. Afterwards they helped me dress and sent me home with my escort (my friend came with me).
I've been told to go back in 6 weeks for a check up and I have anti biotics to take for the next week.
I've suffered some bleeding so far, but no more than a period although Im having to wear pads (I havent worn a pad since I was 14....). My friend stayed with me till about an hour ago and he's left me tucked up on the sofa bed with TV remote and food
But yeh I feel ok, got a bit teary earlier but all in all I'm ok.
The staff couldn't have been lovlier, the anethiatist could see I was scared (needles scare me senseless) and got the nurse to hold my hand while she did it. And the staff in the recovery room were really nice and I had a nice chat after with one of them about future pregnancies etc (I was scared it might effect my chances in years to come).0
