Well done for sticking with it.
Don't get offended but I don't think you have emough expertise to manage an OS partiition (C) and a data storage partition (D) - it's taken you 6 hours today to just free up some space on your C drive and you cannot file manage between C/D.
It's a 5 minute job to get rid of your D drive and add all the space it had to your C drive, so that you would have about 35GB of new, easily useable free space on your C.
Do you want to do that?604!0 -

It's a standard way that most laptops are set up (along with a hidden partition).
They aren't, in this case, actually separate hard drives. It's two areas (known as 'partitons') on the same physical disk.
The idea is to install the operating system (e.g Windows) and programs (e.g Microsoft Ofice) on one partiton (usu. C). The other partition is then used for data (photos, docs, videos, music etc).
Unless a large number of programs continue to be installed, the OS partition can be kept relatively small and compact. This will make it more efficient/faster.
The data storage partition is larger, files are frequently added and removed and the amount of data stored increases with time. It can get messy.
However, as I said before, Windows defaults the saves of most user data to the C drive anyway. That's why your C drive filled up and your D stayed empty.
For the average user you don't really need more that one large partition as you won't really notice any performance benefits by separating OS/Programs and dta storage. It's also a faff to change all the default storage locations if you have 2 partitions.604!0 -
Open up C drive and then go to my computer again and open up D drive , so they are both open but not full screen.
You can now right click and copy from C and then right click and paste into D drive -when that has transferred you can delete the iten being copied from C drive . . . and so on for other items.0 -

Lexxx,
With respect to the poster, I seriously suggest that you don't do this. Unless you understand exactly what you are moving from C: tothere is a serious risk that you will render some programs inoperable or even damage your operating system.
Moving data in the opposite direction (D: to C: ) is usually safe, but even that can have some unforeseen consequences if programs have been set up in such a way that they expect to find data on.
Ultimately, the best solution, as others have said, is to combine your existing C: andpartitions so that you finish with an enlarged C: partition and no
partition. To avoid any possible problems, any data currently on your
partition will need to be moved to C: - if there is room following your success with CCleaner - or to another device, such as a USB stick or external drive. To start with, please check just what files, if any, are currently on your
partition. Without publishing anything you don't want the world to know, let us know what is currently on
.

to be blunt, suggest you stop wasting any more time trying to file manage. Download Easus Partion Manager and install it. I'll then explain how to merge C & D. Easus download link:
