Unless this is a very old machine you have not found either a lot of free space (probably a partition which will appear as aor E: drive) or you do have a lot of your own stuff stored.
The chances are that the Microsoft Office software is only a trial and will stop working eventually. MS Works is pretty much useless and the free Open Office can replace all that lot.
i have had laptop for 2 years, it did have free microsoft on it when i brought it, i thought i had gotten rid of it, i brought microsoft software & installed it about 2/3 months after i brought it.
I only have text files on laptop0 -
If you have your pics and music on a flash drive already then do know how to back up?
But first of all advise how large your hard drive is and how much free spce is left (go to te drive via My Computer and right click, Properties). As a rough guide you need 15% free space to run smoothly.
:rotfl:i guess i do know how to back up.
(c)file/icon on my laptop, it says total size 32gb, space free 217mb
it also has a data (d )file/icon, that says total size 32.2gb, space free 32.1gb
alot gb, what would hold all that stuff?
why is data space free & why cant i use it? or can i?0 -
OK, so your C partition has less than 1% of free space left, you've probably been saving to that as the default. Copy your data over to the D partition, when it's all safely there delete the original from the C drive.
Also remove any unwanted programs via Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Download and run WinDirStat to see what's taking up the space on your C:

You're obiviously not using your D partiton so you could install something like Easus Partition Manager to merge it into your C and make your C size 64GB.604!0 -
I'm presuming there is a 3rd hidden partition with the recovery data on it.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

a bit scared to download more stuff at this point0 -

 i am lost now.0 -

Why?-you've got a full 32GB empty on the 'D' partition? Half your hard drive is still empty.
Just make sure that anything new is installed on D not C.
MS Office 2007 and MS Office Enterprise Edn are slightlly different versions, that's all. Which are the Office programs that you actually use?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
