As you have your own copy of Office you can remove all the Office programs and Word through the control panel. That will free up some space for you and allow you to download the app recommended which will show where your space is going. Even a 32GB partition will hold a lot more than Windows and Office + a few text files.
If the machine is only two years old yet only has an 80GB disk it must be very low spec - this netbook is about 2 years old and has a 160GB disk with the primary partition being 32GB of which 13GB is free.0 -
How many System Restore Points do you have?
Try this - go to control panel. admin tools. comp management. storage. disk management. click on the C drive. right click on it. select properties and disk clean up. When its finished click more options, then click on system restore and shadow copies. Click clean up. Then click on delete all but most recent restore point. Go back to disk clean up and click ok. Then click delete files.
Once that's done right-click on C icon in Computer and select properties. Go to the Tools tab and select Error Checking at the top, Check Now. You will then have to reboot for the check to run.
Once it's done that re-run WinDirStat and post the top ten in the list.604!0 -

Please provide file path and file names for the first 7 items.
sorry, it might be a silly question, but why would move them to D drive?
yupe its 13gb, thirteen.
file path & names???
is that that what is shown before the colour bar on WinDirStart?0 -
why would move them to D drive?
Because they are image/document/music files so there better on your D drive that has 32GB free space. It will free up about 2 more GB on your C drive.
Carry out the other tasks. I can't remember, have you run CCleaner?
I still think it would be quicker and easier for you (me) to just merge your 32 GB of wasted free space on D into C.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: not low spec for me.
i had been using a pretty ancient desktop that died, always wanted a lap top, this laptop is VERY high spec:p in comparision to the desk top
It was what i could afford at the time and i was told i could put more memory if really needed, but since i dont really use it for much other that surfing, downloading music, which goes on usb stick, there was no point me spending more than.0 -

Its how i discovered i have 3 versions of MS0 -
Run CCleaner.
Do the Check Disk.
Turn off System Restore and then turn it back on (that will delete all your old restore points and create a new one).
Seriously though, for the THIRD time, you have 32GB of wasted free space on D. It's a simple 5 minute job to merge and add it to your C.604!0 -
