babys ears pierced

Your husband needs to grow a back bone and your MIL needs to apologise to YOU for having a pin effectively shot through your baby daughter's ear lobe.
She may have donated money to you for your house deposit, this does not give her the go ahead to harming and disfiguring your child. At least you only swore at her - that isn't permanent, what she did was a permanent disfigurement.0 -
I would be livid. There is no way I would let her have baby unsupervised again.
Who actually did the piercing? I would be putting in a complaint there too. They should not be piercing children without parents' written consent, surely?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
My jaw dropped open when I read the OP - OMG!
She'd get a bit more than swearing by me. On a 9 month old - is she nuts? Who did the piercing - surely shops don't do babies at the drop of a hat? Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

I would have thrown her out the house, hope you have taken them out they will close up quickly. Dont know how your husband does not think this is a big deal
I have a friend and a few years ago was getting concerned that her daughters hair didn't seem to be growing it was really short she was about two and a half turned out every three week the MIL would go for her hair cut and at the same time get the grandchildren done as well, friend had to have a nice chat with her but oh my god earings in a baby look horrid and people would think you did it.
If I was you after yelling at MIL i would have been round to my mum's crying that someone had done this to my baby.
take care and hope hubby backs you upIn debt but coping:j

I took the earrings out immediately, apart from the fact i dont like the look of earrings on babies, i also dont want to risk infection.
Shes had a pattern shaved on my sons hair before that i didnt appreciate but wasnt as big of a deal because it wasnt painful or permanent.
OH hates causing a fuss about anything but particulary because his mother is very good to us in regards to money ( gave us a lump sum towards our house deposit a few years ago) which of course i appreciate but i cant just let this one go.
Shes not talking to us now because i swore at her earlier on but i dont feel she has the right to huff and i certainly dont feel i should be the one to make up!
i'd have been livid, how dare she! that wasn't her choice to make....
can't say i'd have been impressed about the pattern on your son's head either...
i think your OH needs to have a word with her and explain what is and isn't acceptable.
i'm really surprised about the ear piercing!0 -
Stick to your guns OP, I'd be livid and if my MIL did that then threw a strop I certainly wouldnt be the one making the first move to make up. She needs to realise what she has done is wrong. I wouldnt be leaving any of my children with her again if I were you.Sealed Pot Challenge Member 151

Nothing like a bit of emotional blackmail eh.
I'm still astonished that this has even happened. I think this is the perfect catalyst to set some boundaries with your MIL.0 -
OMG I would go absolutely MAD, how dare she, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, cowbag!

Ypu were right to take them out. I have seen so many children with torn lobes scarred for life where earrings are pulled when young.

I suspect its an accompanying adult's consent that would be seen as okay - I know my friend's mum (with her knowledge and consent) took her daughter to get her ears pierced at 18 months old.0
