I think the answer is unanimous!! The board must stay in one form or another. I have never spent so little yet felt like I had put more thought into gifts in my life.
Martin, take it away at your peril!! :rotfl:How long til pay day?

As others have suggested why not open it up and make it a celebrations board or something along those lines. I'm sure that that it would then generate a load more moneysaving tips.

I have to say I personally like the Seasonal Board (or sub boards for easter, birthdays, christmas and so on) idea... I think the board should remain especially through the sales where more people are stocking up on decorations, starting saving for 2007 (I'll be starting my savings as soon as I can even if it's just £5 a week...) and so on.
A lot of the suggestions here could be applied all year round to gifts, but I can see where some of these overlap with OS which always leaves me wondering if I should move more over to the OS boards than I do

Keep it going please! Some really great ideas have been put on here but a bit too late for this year for me to do but ready and waiting for next year. I agree it should also incorporate all festivals and celebrations. Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I will be handcuffing myself to the board on new years eve to make sure no one takes it anywhere!0

I imagine all fo this has already been posted so I'm agreeing with the other people who have said the same as me:
1. Planning for Christmas 2007 as just after Christmas is the best time to plan for the next one! (Cheap cards/wrapping paper/decoration/gift boxes!)
2. Planning for all the other mercenary (sp?) festivals we have to suffer through: Easter, Valentine's Day etc :-)
P.S. I've already bought something for next December, admittedly it's a Birthday present but I think my point still stands! (Oh MSE how you have organised me!)Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
I was thinking celebrations rather than festivities too, because weddings and birthdays would fit in nicely, but aren't seasonal or festivals as such.
What abuot the 'Let's Celebrate' board?0 -
I agree with several people by saying that since one of your (Martin) big tips is to tell people that christmas is on the 25th every year, well I think if you kept this board alive more people might remember and will therefore not overspend and will save money, i.e my buying decorations, wrapping paper, cards and presents throughout the year and especially in the january sales.
