Awwww never mind ladydisco, thanks though. I went up to Edinburgh on my own a few weeks ago, stayed at The 4* Holyrood Hotel courtesy of EJH! I had a great weekend! Which hotel did you get?

I found I was fine on my own, I even had a few hours and lots of Jack Daniel's & coke in The Mitre pub on the Royal Mile, was fine sat on my own in the corner!!

Where have you managed to find for Edinburgh...finding it a bit difficult there.

I've followed this thread from near the beginning, and find it's the most addictive thing on MSE (anyone just look on Hotelscomparison for a random place and date that appeals, or is it just me??). However, as it's now getting so long, would it be worth considering splitting the thread, rather like the Tesco R & R one, to 'results' and 'discussion' threads, so that potential destinations and hotels are easily searchable, whilst 'technical' questions are on another thread?
