Um, hello dear I'm not very sure - we aren't great with much company as we hardly get to see each other, but I'm hoping this time everyone will relax and just take things in their stride. I guess its difficult - we're not exactly a 'typical' relationship and she's needing distracted cos of the sad things thats happenned so hopefully we'll get a balance. Guess it must be wierd to share your son wiht another family who aren't your family iyswim

I think mainly alot of walking (expect alot of walking blogs!) and I'll cook a fair bit - Mr s working at home, hope that works OK with her being around - often when folk see you working at home - they find it hard.

I'm working a fair bit next week - but around in the evenings. Kids are at school and we'll all tick along I hope :) and get out in the evenings for a walk

Bank checked - £85 in one account, £150 in other - need to pay more to CC

I hope I get paid this week then I can figure out what to do about holiday plan.

Bit of invigilating this week - then thats done until Dec if I get anymore
eggs to deliver today and monday - girls need to sell 8 doz a month to pay for themselves and so far they've been great
Bit of gardening - and a bit of cleaning and I need to look at a new small weeding job for a friend - difficult balancing that whole friend/work thing - will do a mates rate and have also offered to help her out to do it as a friend and have a cuppa if its better that way - but we'll trash it out and get it right - if its only a couple hours and we can natter and catch up I'm happy with that too - also happy to be left to get on with it - but will know more when I'm there and had a look
    Evening class next sunday
Ebay stuff to post and home work for website to sort

Might try and get the battered wind blown bird oblesk up again - and remember to take it down in sept before it blows away!

    Good Morning Pippi!

Early start for us too (although we managed to stretch it out to 5.30am!) then up to allotment for a couple of hours. Managed to pull up the first bed of broad beans - they've yielded 3 'pickings' which is not too bad given the dry conditions. Composted the stalks (yes, i did leave the roots in the ground for the nitrogen), then planted out some more sweetcorn and some brassiccas. Then the heavens opened and rain stopped play. Did get soaked though, netting the brassiccas from the pesky pigeons!

Now got to fill the rest of the day (hopefully not with housework) until a 'family do' this afternoon. Thorough washing of hands (stained black from broad beans) and hair brushing will be involved

Hope you have a good day.

Good grief Greying I feel positively lazy - great that you've got so much done. Well done I hope you enjoy the day.........!

Ever seen the movie - Another Year?

Enjoy this afternoon - hair brushing though (!) I've not decided if I'll do mine later - maybe I will not windy here today so folk *might* notice but they'll probably stare more at my big sunburnt face (had on factor 12 - clearly NOT enough).

Laughed about leaving the roots in the ground :) well done you!

Made a beginning on the room for future MIL - bed to make now and a lamp to find!

No, I've not seen the film - that's the Mike Leigh one that got all the rave reviews last year isn't it? Keep meaning to see if library has it. Still, it'll probably be on TV soon - seem to think it might of been partly financed by Film 4 - so they usually turn up pretty quick.

By the way, forgot to say - that was a really nice post you put on Lemon Tree's thread, and also, I am loving that your chickens have laying 'targets'!!! The Longstocking household really pulls together - bravo!

Hey Pippi, I totally get the sharing the son business. Mr C senior lives his life through Mr C and until we got together (aged 44) his Dad had him all to himself and at beck and call so I think I get in the way sometimes. Also with the working at home and family staying I had the same problem. MR C senior thought that it was ok to just wander into my office whenever he felt like it (even when I was videoconferencing once). In the end I had to have strong words that I wasnt available to make lunch and cuppas when they wanted them as I was WORKING!!!. He did always phone in the day so I stopped answering the home phone on the grounds that if I had to go out to the office I wouldnt be there to answer it. Dont think he was impressed.

I am sure it will work itself out. Just remember though that, although she is sad and going through a tough time, overcompensating and trying to do things for her wont help her in the long run. Maybe if you explain that you are both working and ask her to do some chores to help out she will feel useful and be so engrossed with doing things that she leaves you to get on with stuff in the daytimes. My friend and her OH recently split up and part of that was caused by the fact that when her FIL died the MIL became very demanding and her OH always put the MIL first and neglected his marriage. Difficult balance but you will find it.

Good luck with mr stripes and mum. Must be hard for her at the minute :( Hope you can all find a cheery way of rubbing along nicely - lots of walks indeed! :T

That's a good point cherisong has, actually, about helping her to feel useful. I know sometimes my sister runs round and does everything herself, my mum doesn't know what to do to help, and so feels like she's just sitting there, and my sister gets cross because shes just sitting there and not helping...

I, on the other hand, always write a big list and put her to work :D
