Sorry about the job Pippi....glad you're so positive about it all.

Well, I have accepted Voluntary Redundancy...had a very restless nignt and drove into college in tears this morning. Broke down while talking of a couple of colleagues too. :(

But talking to folk today has started me off thinking about what I could do ...and now my brain is starting to buzz with ideas!!

Going to spend the weekend writing down a wish-list of jobs/careers/businesses and then whittle the list down in the next week or two. I attended lots of Business Link courses/workshops a few years ago, so will have to rejuvenate the paper work and have another look.

    Right, roast chook for tea....mmmmmm!

    have a great weekend everyone!

big things going on in this thread. Sorry to hear you didn't get the job Pippi, but there will be something else around the corner. Same happened to my sister last year, then she was offered relief work and now has been offered almost full time work (but not quite, which is what she wanted).
Keiss hugs for accepting VR tis a hard decision.

I'm soooooo glad it's the weekend, though now have doctors tomorrow :(

Sorry to hear that the job didnt materialise Pippi but it sounds to me like you might have set your mind against it anyway. All that hair brushing. Maybe like LT says it will lead to something that suits you better.

Keiss, what a rollercoaster of day for you. If you are being made redundant (if there are a few of you) are the company asking the JCP to come in and do redundancy talks with you that will give you some ideas of what you can and cannot claim help with. There are lots of schemes these days that are aimed at people who are being made redundant to help them back into work. There may be free business link courses etc. Also - dont forget that you will probably be entitled to Jobseekers Allowance (contributory) if you have been working for several years.

That made me think, Pippi if you are working less than 16 hours per week can you claim JSA? They used to be able to average out the hours too if you have irregular hours, not sure if they can still do that. You can phone the helpline, tell them all of your circumstances and they will tell you what benefits you might be entitled to including WFTC/CTC/JSA/HB/CTB - make sure that you get all you are entitled to.

Evening all - didnt get job, a worthy very experienced candidate got it instead :)

I know you didn't want to have to brush your hair every day but a very worthy candidate did not get the job in my opinion :o

Keiss, well done on making the decision. I know how difficult it can be and I was very emotional too, even though I know it is the right decision for me. Dreading my last day in September though :( But you sound as though you have plenty of things to think about and I am sure that it will all work out for the best (& I hate people that tell ME that :rotfl: But they ARE so often right).

Thanks everyone for your wonderful kind words of wisdom, I really appreciate your ideas and comments. So thank you all :T:T

Hope you have a great open day today Pippi...dry now here, though we had a couple of heavy showers round lunch time.

Quite pleased with myself today, have done four loads of washing (3 loads inside and dry :)), with the last load a bit damp after the rain.

Also made up a couple of hanging baskets (late!!)...and have 4 loaves of bread on their final rise before going into the oven. Quite a productive Saturday morning, especially for me :o!

Even managed to persuade DS2 to cut the grass this morning...he is now shattered (something is definitely wrong there), and has just watched Andy Murray sweep Andy Roddick away in the semi-final @ Queens. Wonder how the other brit (James Ward) will do against Tsonga. Now, when was there last an all British men's final @ Queens???

Have realized there is no more Dr Who until Autumn now...how will I cope!! Still reeling from all the revelations last week...very clever (and frustrating!) of those Who writers.

    Oops, waffling too much again...back
off to potting up pots and hanging baskets, need to get the sweetcorn in the ground too, as well as the courgettes...they are starting to take over!

One query Pippi, how big does Pattisons Orange get? Not sure how many I could get in a 4' x 8' bed....could I train it up a wig-wam??

Have a great weekend everyone...looks a bit soggy for tomorrow!
