Hi Pippi, I just posted this over on mine and then thought that I should share here as I was thinking about your example as I was pottering around the supermarket
In other news I pottered into the local supermarket by the Arts Centre and I managed to do a Pippi, I got 2 litres of milk on offer for 40p. Well actually I ended up buying 4x2 litre bottels and I have put three in the freezer - I can do that right? I also got a bottle of Hock on offer for £2.00 YIKES I couldnt leave it there for that price could I. Toilet Rolls were on offer 9 rolls for £2.00 and bran flakes for 10p per box (3x) things like this never happen to me.[/QUOTE

Am I right in thinking that I can just put the bottles into the freezer?

Aaargh, just lost my longish post hummpfh!

Suffice to say...yes to freezing milk cheri...but not hock! :rotfl:

Re redundancy - had one-to-one meeting today...offered me loads of money for taking
voluntarily redundancy (VR), far more than I expected!! I wasn't planning on taking it, but now I may consider it...means giving up the chance to work for college for the next two years though (bye-bye knitting classes :(). I can still do invigilation....but can't work in July (service break).

DH has suggested I start my own knitting/gardening/IT classes, possibly in the local village hall or a local haberdashery shop, or at home (very small house though!). Have to decide quickly if I am to take the redundancy money -
    48 hours!

DH thinks I should take the money and run...after all, there will be lots more redundancies at college soon. So available jobs will be rare and possibly insecure. There are a few more colleges to try to get work in too. I could use the money to go towards setting up a future business...must get my thinking cap on!!

Going to talk to my lil' sis tonight...she was an HR manager until last week (took VR) and plans on building up the Kleaneze business that she and her DH have been doing for a couple of years. Maybe I should have a go at Kleaneze too and see how it goes!

Sorry for my rambling, need to get my thoughts together.

Hope the various interviews folk are having go well...good luck!

Pippi - hope you all escape the corners that you have been painted into...sounds like you are doing a grand job there!!

    Gosh Keiss, how exciting!

I'd take it and run - but then I'm always a sucker for a life changing event or two :) Is the only thing that's holding you back the knitting classes?? Because if it is I'm sure you'll be able to find a way! How long will the money allow you to live for without getting another job?

Hugs Keiss to having to make that decision. Scary!!! When i was made redundant, it wasn't through choice, now we're facing it at work, our team is a little time off but still we making those decsions. They don't pay golden handshakes at our place though despite what the news companies say about local government deals.

Pippi hope you've got plenty of things to do whilst painted into your room lol. took me a little time to figure out what you meant but it's been a long day. Good luck for your interview tomorrow.

Cheery - lets just say, it's about nine times what I would be earning in one term of knitting classes (only 5 classes per term though)!!!:eek: Also about six times my most recent months' salary...so think I will take it! ;)

We could (and did for nearly 1.5 years 2009 to 2010) survive on just DH's pay alone...but it's quite a squeeze!! I am getting better with not spending but saving money these days...but with boys at Uni and College...it's all a bit costly!!

This could well be the push that I need to get out there with my own business..whatever it is. I had made a start at setting up a garden design business years ago, but family problems, bereavement and illness put that on the back boiler. Nowadays there is much less money out there for garden designers, and I am not well enough to do any physical work myself, either gardening or construction. I am also not confident enough to sell myself in that field anymore. Whereas with crafting, growing and selling plants...now I could do that! I just love the idea of teaching people stuff...my mum was a teacher, so I guess it's in my genes!

Off to have that conversation with my sis....though have pretty well made up my mind now.....thanks for letting me ramble on about it!

LT - we have no choice with this redundancy...all three IT Training Centres are being closed completely...making 43 of us redundant!!! Even if I wanted to stay in IT within the college...there's just too many folk going for too few jobs.

Perhaps it is just best to cut and run! :D
