The flights are booked - for the end of May next year!! Feels very exciting to be planning that far ahead with OH, and luckily I put them on an interest-free credit card til the end of the year.

DD has told me that she has a little list of places she'd like to visit in the world....I think the pocket money is going to need to be saved up big-time!
  • Yay chaps - just disovered I'm on the homepage for my old course (not just me) but it was very wierd seeing myself online................iyswim?

    Hope you're all grand :)

Ithink I might have spied a few almost ripe blackberries up the hill, in the heather and the gorse, I'm going to investigate properly tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Gosh, your thread did make me smile, I soooo know the feeling! I was so shattered and broke when I finished my studies, that I was too tired to start work.
You do not say the level or discipline in which you have been studying but the Open Uni are often looking for Tutors...??? Alternately, there are sites which match you up to a student in need of tutoring if that would help - although you said you are in Scotland that should be no barrier to e-learning.
Best of luck with the garden/post-doc/ etc etc.

Been eating blackberries at motorway balancing ponds today, yummy!

CONGRATS on the thesis 'done and dusting' Pippi :D

  • Hey Pippi - Congratulations re the thesis finalising - and I love the slap up celebrations - absolutely smashing!

I forgot to say, well done also for posting on RJ's blog - I spied your recycling post. The 'geographically specific' angle to the need to RR&R is very important too. I heard an interview with the round the world yachtswoman, Dame Elen McArthur who said that she was going to focus her future on the need for sustainability. She obviously saw lots of good & bad consequences of waste, being alone in the world's oceans, but also she has first hand experience at making sure that everything 'on board' was either absolutely essential, or multifunctional - or better yet both! We could probably learn alot from yachtfolk - and astronauts!

By the way, did you spy Essex Hebridean's recyling blog post - inspired by, and credited to, your good self?

We're gonna get the world wombling :D - all together now...

  • Starnac - my apologies, but it is a cheerful little ditty isn't it? Hey, I know we've talked about Hugh F-W on Pippi's thread before (sorry Pippi) I see he has a new book out - and I think a TV series is scheduled for Autumn - subject = vegetables.

i loved the wombles when I was a kid. although I always thought the song went "wombles of wimbledon *comma* common are we" so I thought everyone from wimbledon were common. I didn't realise there was actually no break and actually goes "wombles of wimbledon common are we". I didn't know wimbledon had a common :o

    PS I love HF-W
