There are only 2 of us - part-timers and both in our 50's. Weekends she has a 16 yr old girl to help.

You are absolutely right - he knows she is trapped there and will exploit this to the max. He has already tried to get the phone and electric cut off!!

I have tried to get her to leave but she won't.

    It's the legal process I don't understand.

What do you mean by trying to get the phone and electric cut off? Has the partner been to the house tonight? If so, phone 999 now and get him arrested.

Does she have a friend or two who can move in for a bit so she isn't alone at night? Maybe you and your OH could stay in the spare room for a few days?

No he's not back - he contacted the suppliers but as the accounts were in joint names he couldn't do it. We think he went for the phone so people couldn't book their dogs in and so her income would dry up.

This might sound bizarre but bear with me. Are any of the boarders fierce, could she keep one/two in the house with her to protect her should he try and get in.

    She has no friends.

My OH and I have our own responsibilities.

She needs to see a solicitor as soon as possible. By simply having someone like that in her corner you can only hope that it may deter her partner from trying anything stupid.

It made me shiver when you advised that he had tried to cut off the phone and electirc. Effectively isolating her and making her extremely vulnerable.

What she has to ask herself is if he came back would he be able to control himself and not inflict another ghastly attack on her. If he did this would his first thought and concern be 'I must hang around here and look after the dogs'. Of course it wouldn't be.

The police are leaving this poor lady wide open to further abuse, which just isn't right. I'd suggest her going down to the station and asking to speak to the person in charge. They cant leave her like this surely.

This is what I find so appalling :mad:. She feels she has gone to the police for help and they have just left her high and dry!!
