Life is too short ... As long as I don't leave myself open to getting hurt, Whyever not? I LOVE it there, it is a "hit the ground running" break and will be a lovely reward for a hard and difficult year. That is the plan anyway. I have broken down all the things I need to get/book/enable and have set it as a goal for late October.

Yes, life is very short and you must do whatever makes you happy. And you so deserve to be happy. But PLEASE don't get hurt.

So there it is, honest as usual

Thank you for being honest - with us as well as yourself. It is a lovely goal to aim for. Just be sure about it - you sure this year is not too soon? There are lots of lovely places you could enjoy a holiday this year and then maybe next year when you are a bit more strong you could go?

You can tell me off ( I am expecting you to start finger wagging, Wordsmith) but I promise I will be OK.

    Me? Finger wagging? As if!

I wouldn't dream of telling you off, as long as I know you are going to be OK. But even if (only 'even if' - I'm sure you'll be OK) it doesn't work out, I hope you can come back and say so. I never say 'I told you so'. Well, maybe I have on one or two occasions, but only when it was deserved.:D

That's enough of that. I wish you luck with saving and planning and sorting for your trip. It will be very exciting and something to look forward to - especially those nights when you can't sleep because of the TV and tumble drier downstairs.

I hope today isn't too difficult to get through after lack of sleep and indigestion. I am very impressed with your stint at deep cleaning. I honestly don't think I could keep going for that long doing such a job - mainly because I hate cleaning, but also because it is so physical and I am so unfit (that's going to change! Well the unfit bit, I think it will take more than I am capable of to start liking cleaning).

I'm glad work seems to be not too bad at the moment. Good luck with the job application - everything I can cross will be crossed for you.

Hope you feel better soon. It is nice to plan for a trip. I haven't been abroad for 5 years now. So glad you are considering travelling. Look at lots of destinations new and old familiar ones so you choose the best place SA you might want to try somewhere different and try new experiences. I think any holiday is a good idea.

PS I was supposed to be in London today but legs hurt so i am staying in. I will tidy my kitchen cupboards, I will, I will (reckon if i say it often enough I will do it????:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::eek:)

PPS, inspired by you and Steve i have finally ordered a freezer for the garage - no more snacking on rubbish as i will stock up on healthy foods. Hopefully a newer healthier me.

Phew, you have given me an easy ride there, Wordsmith.... I was expecting far,far worse.

I think I will be fine this year - I am in a different frame of mind. I think last year caught me on the hop. It was nearly 2 years since the previous trip and I didn't expect things to fire up again with the Ex. But they did, and I was caught napping!
Even if we have a laugh this time, I am prepared :)

Work was fine - the vacancy has been advertised and the closing date is in 4 days time! I shall get my application in tomorrow. No dragging my heels on this one. The salary is a little more than I was expecting - Good News!

I am not feeling too bad, considering I got no sleep whatsoever last night. My aches have subsided from my cleaning marathon on Sunday - except for my poor knees. They took a real battering from scrubbing the floor for hours on all fours! It will be a long time before I will do that again...

Quiet evening tonight, cuddling up with MrT and watching TV. Tomorrow could be my last day of part-time employment. Wish me luck, guys :D

Well done on getting a freezer sw - they are brilliant for saving the pennies and economising on food. Good to have you back, it really is.

    Hugs

So..... I retire to the front room last night, all upbeat and jolly and..... the telly was broke :( It had been a bit iffy the night before - hard to turn on and flickery. Last night it wouldn't even come off standby. I think it is the same thing that went a couple of years ago, a power board (?) It cost about £60 then. Here we go... peaks and troughs and all that.

Luckily, I have got a little 19" set that I keep hidden away, in case of emergencies. So that got bought out, but do you think I could get Sky on it? I fiddled and faddled and eventually plugged the old external TV aerial in and watched BBC for an hour or so.
I went to bed feeling cream-crackered and woke up at 2.30am!
Here we go, back in insomnia mode. So I get up, make a cup of tea, write my job application and get the TV to work.... Hooray :j Managed to find all the right places to plug cables into :o That will do until I can get the larger set repaired. It is almost brand new and works just fine (now) ;)

I think I need a double knee replacement - they are shot to pieces. I should have worn a couple of pads like the carpet fitters have and given my bony old limbs a bit of protection. Crikey, they ache...

STILL not been paid for last months MShops - angry? You bet!

They had better get the money in my bank pdq or they can go hang - no more short notice "favours" in future. I have got one to do on a local Travel Agent next week (with a different company) I can research prices for my holiday - handy, even though I have no intention of booking on the High Street. All online these days - much, much cheaper.

Off to walk MrT and get ready for work. 4 days off - hooray, hooray!!

Can you believe it is August on Monday - where is this year going?

Speak soon - Have a good day everyone.

    Hugs

I do hope you were quiet. It would have been very inconsiderate of you to make a lot of noise and have the TV on loud while your neighbours were trying to sleep.

Good news on getting TV to work, so you can take your time in getting the other one repaired. Not so good news on having to buy two new knees.

Four days off! What bliss. What are your plans, then? Tell all, cos I will be working all four days and need to have some excitement via online diaries. (Sad, but true.)

Could the message have sunk in with the Fatty family. STILL no noise - I think they have been given the "stern" word because it has never worked like this before. I am rejoicing!

No, I didn't make a noise - Cheeky! I am very considerate and always think about the impact that the noise makes. I try and stop MrT from doing his daily 5 minute dash around the flat after he has had his tea - it tends to make him go faster and crazier though.....

Work was fine again yesterday. It has only been the manager and myself this week. Young male colleague was "sitting in" in another office. It is better when there is more work and we were actually getting on well. Perhaps it is because I am going? Anyway, all is well. I am going to type up my application today and get that sent. Exciting stuff....

Little TV is working really well. I have got to weigh up whether to wait and buy a brand new larger set or have mine repaired (again). It is probably best to get a new one now. Mine was a cheapie to start with and it is about 6 years old now and has gone kaput twice.
No hurry - time to ponder on it. What with working, then taking MrT out for a couple of hours, I watch relatively little.

Had a very civilised telephone conversation with Ex and told him that I was thinking about a break "over there" this year. He is pleased, obviously, but I have made it clear that it is going to be on my terms. The new Big, Strong Me - just you see.....

The mystery shop company have finally posted a message on their website apologising for the late payments AGAIN this month. No Sh*t Sherlock! It is every month - just different excuses. They say the money will be in by the beginning of next week - only a week late - for jobs done in early June.... :( poor, very poor.

This is hopefully my last "short" week - I start full time next week as holiday cover for my manager and then (hopefully) it should lead onto my new job.... please let it be so ? Just the thought of not having to put petrol in the car and walking to work is great. I had to put another £20 in this morning - it just doesn't go anywhere (the money, not the car)

My friends business still looks fantastic after my efforts at the weekend. The floor looks brand new - I am chuffed  and he wrote me a lovely note - lots of ££££££'s please to represent that gratitiude.... a neighbour (not THAT one) runs a cleaning agency and she has asked if I would be interested in doing any work with/for her? I hadn't realised just how much people are prepared to pay these days. It was a real eye opener when she told me. I am not sure I fancy the amount of elbow grease involved - I am getting too long in the tooth for all that. Another option though.

The sun is shining and I shall enjoy doing a bit of garden tidying. I have got some containers full of bedding plants which I think I have overfed a bit. I have got fuschias that are 3 foot high! All from tiny little plants bought from Morrisons a couple of months ago. Crazy - but look lovely.

No more to report but could be back with updates.

    Have a good one everybody!

    Hugs

    Dear Diary,

So much for posting more during my 4 days off - it is probably less! I seem to have been doing lots of stuff on the computer, the flat, garden and dog walking of course and time has slipped away.

The weather is beautiful and MrT and I have had a lovely 2 hr walk this morning during which we met 4 other terriers of the same breed as him. He was very impressed and gave them all a thorough inspection, including bottoms.... why do they do that? :o No bad feelings though and he has at last settled down in his bed - I might just get a bit of peace and quiet.

The job application has been submitted. Apparently interviews are this coming week .... I have been thinking about timescales, I think my current manager is being a bit harsh on saying that I cannot move before the second week of September. If, for instance, I was giving my notice in that would only be a month. She is asking for 6 weeks. I know that she is away for 3 weeks of that but that is not my problem - it is up to them to find cover, I would have thought.
    Let's see.

Finally been paid for June's mystery shops. Now they are quibbling about one I have done at the beginning of July. I think I may be kicking them into touch before too long. Although it is extra income it is far more trouble than it is worth, it seems.

Plans are taking shape for a week away in October. Whilst it would be nice to be away for my birthday at the end of the month I think I will let the price of the air ticket dictate when I go. I will keep an eye on the sites and as soon as there is a bargain I will book it. It could be a difference of as much as £200. I don't think there will be a problem getting the time off at short notice. October isn't exactly a popular month for taking a holiday!

A nice relaxing afternoon ahead. I hope everyone is enjoying the sun and doing lots of nice things.

    Hugs
