Brilliant news, SA. Sounds like they are "on to" your current manager. Does this mean you will definitely get one of the posts? I do hope so. Otherwise, can you apply for all of the ones that may be suitable to increase your chances of full-time work? I am so pleased for you - you thoroughly deserve this chance. And I know you will rise to it admirably.
Will the new job be at the same premises, or do I remember rightly that you said there were premises in your home town, too?"Green pastures are before me,

Hi there, short and sweet this sunny, positive morning.....
With the collection thing, it relates to the situation where I was trying to explain the benefits system to people who have no idea or concept of "working for nothing" i.e giving back any extra money earned through overtime. Yes, Yes I know I should be saying that it is better to work than claim HB, BUT..... I was LOSING money through having to pay fuel costs and not keeping ONE PENNY of my overtime.... no good. Hopefully those days are at an end.
Wordsmith - I think I will get one of the posts reading between the lines, and here is why -
How embarassing if I didn't!
The closing date is being put back for me to be able to apply.
The "informal" chat with HR lady to discuss the roles.
Yes, you remembered correctly - the new jobs are at the office five minutes walk from my flatThe car can stay in the drive and no fuel costs! A much nicer working atmosphere and lots of people of all ages to make friends with. I am thrilled. I am going to make the most of the free time I have got left for if and when I start full time and enjoy walking and doing the garden. I think there will be a handover period as well to cover the holidays - my current manager is off for most of August but the end is in sight, I hope. I would love for this to be my last employer to take me right up to retirement. Like everything in my life, I need and like security. Fingers crossed.
Speak later,

Hello lady,
I've been absent a few days & just caught up. Fantastic news on the job application :j. Everything crossed for you - although I'm sure you'll win it on your own merit
xx0 -
Fab news SA - I shall keep everything crossed for you not that you will need it.:j
Collections - i remember them, I would only give to the collection if it were for someone I knew well otherwise I wouldnt bother and if I was forced then I would put in pence as opposed to quids.
You asked what I do for a living - well I work 8hrs a week doing admin work for the guy who hosts my website (I bill him more than I have to pay him each month for webhosting:rotfl:). My main business is event management however it is a little quiet at the moment hence the admin work (I am also learning new skills and am currently building a website for him:eek:). My latest venture is organising weekly business networking events so I go networking to meet people whom I can then invite to my own events. In my spare time I am secretary of a business club too - I organise speakers and entertainment for events, I am also working on a charity auction to be held in October for them. I think I currently work 100 hr weeks:eek:
I hate living in my overdraft and have a few big bills coming up - car insurance being one and road tax the other although I may pay for 6 months and then in December buy tax for 12 months that way everything doesnt come at once. I have had to have the car serviced and MOTd which has cost me over £400 because I had to have a fair bit of work done on it - blast these potholed roads:mad: My working tax credit was halved this financial year because I didnt read the form properly although I have sent in a new form showing a loss that I made last year so hopefully, I will get a bit more. I want to get to the stage where I too can be rid of my housing benefit altogether.
Feeling a bit meh at the mo, I think it is the weather - I have had a stinking headache since yesterday afternoon which I cannot get rid of. I think that because we have low pressure my head aches - either that or I am coming down with a lurgy:(
Methinks that this month I will shop in Waitrose and use my LVs to pay for it - Waitrose seems to be the only place bar Starbucks where I can spend them, no-one else wants to take them despite the likes of Tesco accepting them.
I hate being skint.0 -
Horace. Hope the lurgy passes you by.
I am trying to work at home but will pop my head into work later! I have just packed most of my cd albums and sold them to Music Magpie. Rather chuffed as it clears some space. It is chilly today. Roll on the weekend.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
Hope your meeting goes (went, by the time you read this probably) well today, SA."Green pastures are before me,

Good morning everyone.... I am not sure where to start, so please accept my apologies if it all gets a bit jumbled but here we go...
Work was OK yesterday but young, male colleague was hugging the workload, so I relaxed, took it easy and then left at lunchtime! It seemed pointless spending the whole day there as overtime when I appeared to be surplus to requirements.
I spent the afternoon tidying the garden and then the flat and logged on to my computer to write a post but got waylaid.....
One of my ex bosses, a director, had contacted me through a mutual friend asking what I was up to and where I was?
Now..... I can't go into details but I have VERY TENTATIVELY been sounded out for a new position in a new department in a company that has recently acquired another company. It would be something vey similar to what I was doing in my much loved job that I lost last year, through redundancy. It would be working abroad (in Europe) but that is as much as I can say at the moment. He was just sounding me out. Just the thought of him contacting me was brilliant - if it leads to anything .... perfect.
Back to the normal ... I have had my meeting and it was good. There are two different jobs. One is more complex and the other slightly more routine but very important, nonetheless. The starting salary for that one is the same as I am now and the other is higher. Both have incremental increases as well (hooray) and the final salary on both is quite good. I have agreed to submit an application for either or both over the weekend. Interviews start next week and starting date will be a.s.a.p but if I was to get one of them a handover schedule would be worked out so as not to leave my current office short. I am very pleased. I think the meeting went extra well because I was feeling so upbeat about the other stuff going on.
Like me you are all probably wondering "What if, what if" and my answer is "I don't know" - I have the flat and my beloved MrT to think about but very little else from stopping me following an oportunity .... Just dreaming the dream and then I can worry about the logistics later, if anything comes of it.
So, that is my news for the moment. Off to work out the wording for the job applications... Wish me luck!
Horace, thanks for the info - what a busy life you lead. As for being skint, me too..... I can't bear it. I have just bought my car tax and I am pleased a move is on the cards to a office nearby. My car is due to have its MOT next month. If it should be too costly I can leave it on the drive and walk everywhere until I have saved up. Sorted!
Hugs

Gosh, SA, how exciting things are at the moment. And if nothing comes of the phone call, well, how brilliant is it that your old boss thought of you, and what an accolade! And good news about the choc job. If nothing else, today's events should have given you an enormous boost to your confidence.
Should you get a wonderful job you can't turn down, there will always be a home for MrT in Ireland - full visiting rights, of course!
Be pleased with your progress and enjoy your weekend. You deserve wonderful things coming your way."Green pastures are before me,
