I am chev, but I'm getting grilled by my boss as this guy is making it look like I'm not doing my job. He knows what he's doing and asking for stuff 5 mins before I need to leave is a joke. He's making it unbareable. Not sure he realises what a !!!! he's beingCC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. then maybe you need to explain that asking for something that will take an hour to do 5 minutes before you have to leave, is not very professional on HIS part, and could he please plan his workload better?I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

I tried that Chev, he tried to say if I can't meet the demands of the job then its my fault. I don't know what his problem is. I've just told some folk they don't have a job in two weeks and they've taken it badly and there's no one else that can do the work.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Hi Sweetie. I've seen a lot of this with my part time staff, and with those who start and finish earlier than others. As far as I'm concerned, it's bullying.
If your boss is approachable, then I would have an informal word to start with, and explain that you need his/her help with handling the situation (ask their opinion/benefit of their experience etc.), and agree a 'handling strategy' - if that doesn't work, then your boss should be expected to support you in a formal bullying claim. If your boss isn't approachable, then go straight to the handling strategy, and continue to write everything down.
In terms of a handling strategy - I always suggest this so that the individual can't claim they didn't know that they were placing you in a difficult position, and I as the manager know that there has been clear communication between the two individuals.
I would suggest you politely explain (followed up in writing by email) that you've noted an 'excess of tasks' being left with you last thing' with the expectation that you stay late to finish them. Point out that your routine work hours are x - y, and that you will happily fit tasks into those hours, and prioritise as appropriate, provided that you have a reasonable amount of notice for anything with a critical deadline that day. Note that, without prior agreement, you are unable to stay beyond your normal exit time so anything handed over at the end of the day will be added to the next day as appropriate.
Now, once you've clarified your position, if he continues to dump stuff on your desk last thing and demand instant turnaround, then you have every right to claim that he is clearly struggling to "cope with the demands of his job".
The point you need to hold on to is that provided you are given a reasonable warning, then there isn't anything you can't fit in. Though it may mean that something else is dropped, or a different deadline is missed. The overall idea being that you're never in a position where you have to say 'no' and therefore can't be accused of not coping. You can, of course, be accused of prioritising well, and being flexible while maintaining your reputation for timely and quality delivery....
hope that helps.

Well I don't think there is anything to add to Nora's post.
Just remember that although he looks good now, that won't last. One of our "golden boys" turned into a golden shower and is now a universal object of ridicule...

hi Uni, sorry to hear about work, Nora can you come to my office and have a similar conversation with the people there? I'm still feeling out of sorts because i got a narky phone call on friday from somone, basically having a go at me because i said i'd made the same corrections in their work two months in a row, and despite them being asked to correct things they haven't done it, so if it's the same next month then it will be going back to them to correct as i won't be doing it. I was probably a bit blunt but i think i was fair and i asked nicely last time.
I really hope your weekend has picked up Uni and you have a lovely sunday.0
