the replacement they gave me is locked and since then I have changed providors.

That IS unusual - I know of many who went to Apple with an locked phone and it was replaced with an unlocked one. It was explained that their stock inventory was based on models of phone, not that AND a basket of Networks.

As others have said, let Apple sort it out, as they are usually attrentive to annoyances like this!
  • My iPhone 4 was faulty, I took it to the apple store and they replaced it for me no problem.

I'm on the Tesco network (O2) and presume my phone was locked. Is there any way to tell if this new iPhone is locked or unlocked? I only took out a 12 month contract so will be looking around soon for better deals.

Many thanks for any help. :-)

Only problem with that is that I don't know anyone with an iPhone 4 (micro sim). Everyone I know with iPhones are all 3GS.

Just wondered if there was any other way of telling?

    Thanks

    sorted!

rang apple in the states.lol 0800 number

guy was very helpful, he goes just hook it up with the pc with the new sim in and it should recognise the new sim and it did straight away.lol
maybe the phone was unlocked afterall??? :rotfl:

@pink-lady just order a free sim any network and buy a 'micro sim cutter' from ebay cost around £3 and try this way but you may need the new sim to be activated or if you have any old sim cards cut them and pop it into your iphone and see if it recognises them.

    goodluck

Thankyou, I'm sure I've got an orange payg sim so I'll try cutting it down and give it a go!

It would be great if it works

    Thanks again

I bought a Iphone 4 from a chap at work. It was locked to O2 and i'm on Orange.

I had to buy an O2 Pay and Go sim card and load it up with £15 of credit.

I then had to cut the sim so it will fit in the Iphone.

Then request the phone be unlocked by O2 for a charge of £15.

Should be unlocked in 72 hours I have been told by O2.

Been very impressed with O2. :)
