Is the mooncup in the right position? Is it high enough? Can you feel it when it is in?

Hi, yes it's in the right position - definitely high enough, because I can't feel it at all. Perhaps it will all settle down eventually when I've had more practise. Another thing I must do is cut my finger nails!

    wow what an eye opener!!!

i am really tempted to order a mooncup for myself. i also have a 13 year old who has been having periods for about 6 months now. is there an age limit on mooncups, would she be able to cope with it? i am scared about TSS and it panicks me thinking she is only 13 and has to do this for another 50 years. she goes to boarding school so the washable ST's are not feasable at all.

does anyone else have young daughters who use them?

    any help would be great

    thanks

I also have a daughter who is nearly 13. I showed her my mooncup and she looked rather taken aback by it! She was shocked by how big it looks, and I suppose it does look rather large and a bit clinical. I suppose you have to consider what your daughter's build is, as to whether she could cope with one. My daughter is very petite and I have to say, the mooncup looks far too big for her. Perhaps when she's grown a bit.
If you buy one for yourself and give it a try, then you might be in a better position to consider one for your daughter. Go on - give it a go, they are great!!!!:j

This whole thread is just so wrong, I'm all for going green and saving money, but c'mon, this is just giving me the complete boak, I'd rather camp out sitting on the lavvy for a few days every month before going down this route, there's just some things in life you have to fork out money for and disposable sanitary products is definitely one of them

You are definitely going to hate childbirth my love - AND nappy changing!

Just wanted to put a word out from an old mooncup user. I've had mine for about 6-7 years now and have never looked back. The leaking problem mentioned earlier is normally due to not emptying it often enough. Plus I find sometimes I can sneeze and squeeze it at the same time, so end up running to the loo! But fear not, once you get used to it you'll understand how your body works with it and it'll be like a friend :)

Well.... took me a while to get the guts to read through....am pleasantly surprised

I'm okay with the idea of reusable nappies, hate the prices of normal STs, and am allergic to anything thats seen plastic :rolleyes:

    So what's stopping me???

In the meantime I'm compromising with organic cotton papery disposables...not quite so bad as the plastic rubbish... may browse some of these sites further though.

So say I went through a box each time of disposables (14 / 16) how many washables would people recommend?

:eek:Just saw "furry fairy hammocks" :rotfl:

    Related issue:

Has anyone ever considered washable toilet 'roll' made of organic cotton? For the 'number 1's' obviously and are called 'Wee Wipes'. They are sold at www.homemattersmost.co.uk

    Nope :D

Actually, I did used to keep some flannels for wiping the babies bums with, soaking them with the nappies, and did briefly consider this as on another forum I know someone who used flannels for number ones and number twos (kept seperate from the face flannels!!!). I gave it a couple of seconds thought and decided it was a step too far beyond my personal comfort level.
