I don't know where else to post this for some advice .
I now am 60 I have arthritus,I can apply for my bus pass to start next year, My partner 57 like all women now cannot retire till she's 66 , she also has arthritus, but cannot apply for a bus pass till she retires. Niether of us is going to be able to drive by the time she retires, Is the government that hard up , we are not invalids but is there anything we could apply for to help?
Thanks

Think you may be able to apply for a disabled persons bus pass

No idea of answers but this seems to be on the wrong board. OP you could ask the mods to move this to a more appropriate place.0

If you're incapacitated and have diagnoses then ask at the CAB, they will help you get it all sorted.0

Give your council a ring, some issue disabled bus passed at any age, my OH got one when he was about 56 because he was sight disabled.
If one of you is seriously disabled and cannot manage alone, you can sometimes get a disability bus pass with a C on it for companion which enables them to travel free with them.
Good luckmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
It is worth making an appointment to see someone at CAB, to see exactly what you are entitled to.
You might be able to claim lower rate mobility DLA and then you would be entitled to a pass.
You might not think you are disabled as you find ways of getting round your arthritis but I know how hard it is sometimes as my parents are the same.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Have they changed the rules on bus passes? Last year it was definitely age 60 regardless of gender. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

As stated, there are other concessions which may be available, and as there seems to be a disability element here I moved it here rather than to Over 50s.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
A bus pass for a disabled person can be issued at any age - my 13 year old son has one. The C (for companion) is only in some authorities though - Merseyside doesn't have this, even though it would be impossible for my son to travel alone due to his disabilities.0

You can apply for a disabled person's bus pass at any age...........I got mine at 40 when I was told it was advisable not to drive anymore. If you ring the Council for an application form, all you need is get your Dr to sign the form.
