;D Hi I use wanadoo broadband for my pc at home but for my laptop i use fastnet its only £6.99 a month and its brilliant you do get cut off after 2 hours but you can then reconnect and the speed is really good fot surfing its almost as fast as broadband not any good for downloading but for surfing the web great.
I will also be changing my broadband to tesco.Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

Ok so my sister tried both the geographical dial up numbers of BTYahoo and Virgin.net through 1899 and 18866, but has had no luck.
BTYahoo connects but brings up some sort of over-ride webpage saying that there's a problem with her connection i.e. funny dial in number. :P Virgin.net just doesn't connect.
Any thoughts? Or have BT caught on?0 -
You can use Virgin.net geographical dial-up with 1899/18866. I've done it through a BT landline.
I've yet to try over our cable landline with the 0808 number.

Can you confirm that the virgin.net number is the same one I posted above? And the one on the previous page?
Bah, will look over her PC when I go round next. Maybe she's done it wrong.0 -
Anyone had any further progress or should I say success with any ISP connection via 18866 and 1899 ??Examine what is said, not him who speaks.0

I'm basically dialing: 18866 01483881766
It's copied straight from my DUN connection. I'll test it tonight once again.

Got some bad news for your free dial up internet plan. if you go to https://www.bt.com/Choices/isp_excl.jsp you'll find that BT are one step ahead of you. They have an exclusion list for geographic isp numbers. Guess its back to using 18866 and put up with having to spend a penny!!0

You can't do it with BT but if you join Talktalk you can do it via them.
TalkTalk are offering free evening/weekend calls for a year to new customers + £10 if you are referred by someone (see my signature)
If you then need to connect to the internet during the day, then you can use 18866...

do you know of any isp with 0800 access besides aol. and no min contract would be of great hellp.
.. thank you .
As recommended byIannewberry I use Fast 4 and no problems. £6.99 per month unlimited. Also their parent company V21 (https://www.v21.co.uk) run a similar service for £8.99 per month, probably a better contention ratio. Both these are 0800 connections. Otherwise use https://www.aardvaak.net which is free but you pay for the call and using 1899, this would probably be the cheapest of all.

Hi Sunil, I am a bit confused re: boatmans post (dont know how to cut & paste it). I have signed up to 18866 & set up dun for geographical bt internet no & it is working. Is this ok, am I still getting this for just 1p connection fee. I am using this during day and talktalk free for 12mths in the eve. Have I got this right. Thanks for all your help, you are a star.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0
