I do have target costs for a lot of things too, for example
Toilet roll - Used to be target price of 25p per roll, has crept up a little in the past few years but won't pay more than 30p a roll.
    Beans - 25p a tin so £1 for 4 offers mostly.
Yogurts - 25p each (I like decent ones) for £1 for 4 usually
Washing powder - 10p per (stated) wash, so £5 for a 50 wash box.
Cheese - £5 a kilo, so BOGOF or half price usually.
Bread - used to be target of £1 a loaf, am struggling now to get granary for that, best at the moment is 2 for £2.20.

So whenever I see my usual items at my target price I tend to buy a lot.

Like you I have a target price for certain items and some of my targets match yours:
Yoghurts 25p each or 25p per serving if a large tub
Cheddar (Mature or extra mature) £5 a kilo
Crisps 10p a bag (always manage to buy walkers not being a snob just some where always has an offer on before my stocks run dry)
    Fizzy pop 25p per can

I find it prevents me from buying items that have been put on offer but are not really a bargain IYSMIM

I like the idea of target prices for things, I had never really thought of that..I am funny with yogurts at the moment, I started buying the basic Sainsburys ones for about 30p for 4 and I really like them, I tend to often have one after my meal and they do me fine..only thing is the last 2 deliveries have not had them and now I am finding it hard to spend more than this on yoghurts!!! I am trying to get into other puds though too, like yesterday the kids had bananas and custard so I had some with them and today I had some plain yogurt with defrosted berries and a bit of muesli yum...

Think I will get a list of target prices sorted for things...

    Hi everyone

My June ends today and I would like to declare £192.73!! . Yippee under budget for the first time since I started the GC!!

Please can I have £220.00 for July, I have had a T*sco delivery and been to L**l already and have spent £88.01. I had run out of a lot of basics like pasta, bread flour, sugar, fruit juice, breakfast cereal, tins of beans etc. etc. I also managed to get one of those Oc**o codes and place an order before they withdrew the offer. I have got some shopping coming on Wednesday morning, so I will pop in and update when that comes.

I am going to watch some Glastonbury now and have a well earned glass of wine! Cheers

Tesco value choc mousses are gorgeous and probably no less nutritious than value yogurts (I'm not keen on those though) and are about 29p (price varies greatly like most value stuff!)

Target prices are useful so you can tell if something is a bargain or not and to stop you buying branded things just because they are on offer when your usual is cheaper. Eg most loo roll offers don't beat the Tesco Springforce loo roll and that stuff is plenty good enough for my bum (gone up to £2.40 for 9 though:eek:)

Please share (if you don't mind) as we are planning on increasing the amount of things we have a target price for, we just haven't decided what or target, some ideas would be useful.

Went to Mr M to return an item (non GC) today and ended up spending £19 on carp. Well, feels like it was mainly carp although we got 6 x pasta ready meals for 39p each which will do for DH lunches and some coke and mars bars on offer he wanted for lunches too.

The rest was Mr M value jaffa cakes which taste like the McVit ones, some sweets for me, a big tub of low fat spread, cocoa for baking and spring greens. Also had run out of paras and hairspray.

They have 400g Cath City at 2 for £4 so got 2 of these as it is my fave and should last us all month.

Stil need to get dog food tomorrow as no decent offers on it at Mr M. May give the baby offer at Mr S a miss as I want to keep a hold of my spends this month and I have already spent over £100 of my £260 budget.

    I too have a max price for things;

    £4 for 800g cheese
£5 for 12 tins of branded dog food (usually Chum)
    25p/tin for beans
    £5 for a bottle of wine:rotfl:
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75
