Guys, this is now getting worse and causing arguments. This morning, Graham White Solicitors phoned and asked my husband who was driving the car- he told them it was me! So basically, he hasn't listened to a word I have said or shown him. They are now sending out letters addressed to me- big sigh! ???

You can still ignore these clowns. If they ring again tell them the "debt" is denied and should be passed back to the parking company. Any other calls from them will regarded as harassment and reported to the appropriate authorities.

Just to be clear the person who spoke to your husband was not a solicitor nor even a member of staff at a solicitors but just an ordinary member of staff at Roxburghe's again. They effectively rent the name of the solicitors and pose as them to be able to bring more pressure on their targets. Ignore them.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

Personally, if they were to ring me, I would say something to the effect of :-
" Re-arrange the following words into a well known phrase or saying, Oscar Foxtrot, now be a good chap, run along and stop bothering me with your piffle."

If they ring again tell them you will only speak to a real solicitor. That will fox them. You are nearly at the end of the scam now.

Or you could refer them to the famous "'Arkell v. Pressdram" case.

  • Hi all,

Been reading up on this horrible situation. I recieved 3 parking tickets at an Asda car park in one week where i missed the time by about 5 mins.

I was advised by a pal just to completely ignore it, it has now reached Whyte debt recovery and after reading all of your great advice i feel confident to keep ignoring. But just one problem...

Since receiving the parking tickets i have moved from my parents house and they are really concerned and worried about a) Debt collectors turning up at their home and b) Me having to go to court over this.

I am also still a little nervous!

To calm them down I have assured my parents I will pay as they will keep worrying and being scared but honestly it has turned in to £82 each charge and i cant afford it.

I would like to send a letter to Whytes Debt Recovery on behalf of my parents stating 'I' (their son) is no longer living there so please stop sending threatening letters to their home.

Is this a good idea? Alternitively is there another structered letter i can send to get them off my case full stop?

    Please Help!

Your advice and support would be very much appreciated.

    Kind Regards

    Nix7
  • This nasty little scam preys on our natural fear of this pseudo legal claptrap. It is no better than mugging. Debt collectors do not come knocking, they may telephone and you can put the phone down on them. You may get some silly threat that they want to make a home visit but this will not happen. Debt collectors are not bailiffs and have no right of entry or siezure. Just tough it out and come back at any time for reassurance. Like most people on here, I have faced down these scammers who crawl back under their stone after a while. Do not contact them or this will encourage them to think you will cave in.
Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!

Why don't you actually send them a change of address note?! Seriously!

    Say something like:

    'Dear Whytes,

Re: Fake PCN number xxxxx & PPCs name

You have been sending me the usual drivel - known as 'threatograms' on the MoneysavingExpert website - and I see that I have not yet reached the end of the letter-chain of threats. As you will be aware I am only the registered keeper of the car and the originating private parking company has no contract with me whatsoever. You will understand why I am not responding to your kind offer to pay an alleged debt I am not even party to, and for which I have no liability.

However, I have just moved house and am missing your latest epistles. As I need more hamster bedding could you please send the usual 'final notices' to my new address above.

Take notice that any correspondence now sent to the old address will of course be in breach of debt collector guidelines as you have now been made aware of my new address. If I discover you sending the rest of 'my' scary letters to the old address, I will have no hesitation in reporting your breaches to the Office of Fair Trading and the Parking Company's Code of Practice breaches to the BPA and DVLA.

    Merry Christmas,

    Nix7'
