You seem to have misunderstood what I was saying. I said the OP should speak to their son about it rather than to continue spying on him (as they have been doing for several months) without mentioning the problem or dealing with it. I was not suggesting they turn the other cheek and ignore what was happening - quite the opposite, if you read my post I was quite clear that "Doing nothing is just as bad". I don't think your analogy applies to my advice.

Perhaps I found the word "spying" provocative ?

Blocking !!!!!! or anything for that matter can be done without spending extra money on 3rd party products. I would personally make use of the following:

    1. Host File
    2. URL/Keyword filtering (if the feature is available)
    3. Group Policy

    Easy if you know how.

Personally I wouldn't worry, unless as someone mentioned way earlier in this thread he is starting to look at serious stuff like some of the bdsm sites.

If you don't like him looking at it, then mention it and I'm sure he will stop or at least disguise it a little better!

Which is all very true, however, if the lad is even slightly IT clued up, which 99% of teenagers are, he will simply boot the PC using a Linux Boot CD and that will bypass everything you have setup, free to surf wherever he likes. Failing that, he'll use his smart phone!

Talk to the lad, education is best.

I'm conducting a test to see if anyone listens to the same podcast as me:

BDSM? Aren't they a driving school?

I thought the seatbelts were a little tight.

No. I wasn't suggesting he modified it himself to deliberately be 'sexist'. I just don't think he was wise to repeat the 'sexist' term. If it was a misunderstanding, as you suggest, then what is the problem with some people here correcting his usage?

Referring to its usage as "offensive and Freudian" along with "the decision to subsequently adopt, absorb and repeat such an offensive interpretation is clearly vile. Any decent person would never lightly use such an idiom." goes WAY beyond 'correcting usage'
