£37 vouchers in Somerfield magazine

It has been well discussed that using Somerfield vouchers ... exclusively or to excess ... may result in a ban ...katskorner wrote:I used £20 of somerfield vouchers today on a big spend but it was more than 10%. I used the self scanners. The lady comae over and said I had done more than 10% and I should stop - she had authorised it today but to bear it in mind in the future. Fair enough.
I paid and went to leave. On my way out the same lady came up to me with security and said that I could not use the somerfield vouchers as it would leave the store out of pocket. She then went off to find out what to do. THis was after the transaction had completed. I told CS I needed to get my baby in the car and they said OK. Then CS came out to the car park with the vouchers and handed them to me saying that they couldn't be accepted. She then took my trolley, put it back for me and went inside.
Should I expect to hear anything more from them? As far as I was concerned, the till accepted the coupons and the transaction was completed.LittleBill ... "The riches of a man can be measured by what he can do without"0 -

I did use other vouchers and not just somerfield. I probably shouldn't have used so many I know but the way they gave them back to me was odd. I just wondered if they are likely trace me. And if I do hear from them, what should I do?3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

They may trace you through your Clubcard if you used it ... It would maybe be wise to plead ignorance ... say your thought it was 'advisory' to use them in Somerfield ... but all this said ... and with all due respect ... I would say it was asking for trouble to put so many through ... hopefully it will come to nothing ...LittleBill ... "The riches of a man can be measured by what he can do without"0 -

Ok, I see the word FRAUD being thrown around a lot on this thread. I am not an expert (so if someone is, feel free to correct me) but a look at the legal situation here might help.As for if the store takes them thats ok I don't see your logic, so if it takes forged notes that's ok because its taken them?
No! Passing forged money is very illegal. Try it and see.It is fraud. its just supermarkets are unlikely to take legal action and wouldn't want any bad publicity so are much more likely to just ban people which they have done so.
Again No. When a store displays a product at (say) £5.00 this is an Invitation to Treat a legal term that simply means 'make me an offer'. You can make an offer to pay with anything - gold dust, chickens, credit card, monopoly money, cash, air from your lungs, even worthless bits of paper with Somerfield written on them. Your offer does not even have to be for the requested price, it can be less (or more?!?!). This process is called bargaining. It is up to the seller to either reject or accept your offer although typically a supermarket will not enter into a prolonged bargaining session(you'd probably get thrown out as a nuisance). If the seller accepts an offer, it is a binding contract which can only be amended with the consent of both parties. ie once they have accepted the vouchers, it tough on them.
If a store does not want its staff accepting Somerfield vouchers, that is an issue for their training dept.
Of course, if someone abuses this, there is nothing to stop Tesco from banning them from the store.0 -

Yes, there is also a December issue. This is the one with £30+ worth of money off vouchers.
Can someone tell me what I am looking for here? I went to our nearest Somerfield and all I found was a deals leaflet with BOGOFF adverts etc. Where would I find this magazine?
Thanks.0 -
