Once you've selected "finish and pay", select coupon and scan the barcode on the coupon. It's the barcode that matters - anything starting with 99 should work OK, digits 10-12 are the price in pence. It then asks you to put the coupon fully in the slot and won't carry on until it senses that this has happened. Then scan and insert the next one...and the next one...etc

Re. how many you can use on one go, this all depends on the store's local settings and the supervisor if the self-scan till calls them for approval. Some are set to max 3 coupons, 10% off bill, 33% off bill, no coupons over £1 value before this happens, others (like my local store this morning) have no limit and will take whatever you've got. If it does call for approval, many supervisors just cancel the warning and let you carry on but some have been known to open up the till and examine your coupons as it doesn't call until you've put offending the coupon in the slot.

I do have a Somerfield nearby but not a Tesco or Asda LOL

I tried to redeem some of these tokens in my local somefield without purchasing the goods they were intended for, this was unfortunately a no go. I did however manage to utilise the self scan till in tescos for a price reduction, thanks for the useful information

Used £10 of the vouchers today for my first ever attempt in Tesco, worked a treat, the self scan requested authorisation from the SA once I'd put them in the slot, he just came over, reset it with his special code, and walked off as I entered my payment. Niiiiiiiice!

No they won't. The only stores that accept some coupons without buying the product are Tesco, Asda and Waitrose. Even then it is down to the store what their limit is, and Asda and Waitrose are most likely to refuse competitors' magazine coupons, IMHO.

And you may find Somerfield/Sainsbury/Asda magazine vouchers are turned down at the Tesco till as they shouldn't really take them at all...but they will scan.

And to those that are asking, when you are in Tesco, Asda or Waitrose, you can usually forget about having to buy the product if you want to use a coupon, unless you are in a particularly anti-coupon store or choose the jobsworth lady on the till (that part is trial and error but choose a young lad if you can!).

All 4 of the £5 somerfield vouchers scanned in my tesco's today. I've got a question though, could Tesco track down who you were if you used your clubcard for the purchase ? I didn't dare risk it

I suppose they could but why would they? It would probably cost them to do it and they did accept the coupons in the first place as part payment so the contract was made then. They would be hard pushed to do much later on I would think.

Well done you managed to defraud tesco then by targeting someone 'he looked about 12;)'

If Tesco willingly take them then fair enough but to deliberately target a cashier who doesn't know better is disgusting, and knowingly handing over vouchers that are not valid is fraud.

It must be so much fun ruining it for everyone who uses proper manufacturers vouchers!
