Caz, sounds like you have got quite a lot sorted for you then. Its great that so many people are helping out with the wedding for you, Id imagine it makes it a lot less stressful. We are quite lucky in that the future MIL has given us a huge hand financially with our wedding which has taken a lot of the stress of us with having to save. We are still saving as much as we can as we dont want to over rely on the money but it is a welcome fall back.

Im kinda surprised how many fella's there are on this thread, you would imagine that the women would be the chief organisers but by the looks on here there seem to be a few of us guys taking the lead.

Speaking of honeymoons, like Allan I funnily enough had a phone call last night off our local Thompson Travel Agent to tell me that their 2013 brochures are now available and that there are a few early discounts to be had by going in soon. Think I will have to pop along and have a look.

Allan, any chance of being added for the 14th? Seem to have been forgotten about :(

:o really sorry you've been left off haha! Will get you on now :)

Haha dont worry about us lads outnumbering you... think theres a grand total of like 4 of us at the moment :P Junes gonna be a really busy wedding month I think and am sure loads more of you bridezillas will be in here soon ;)

Any room in the June 2013 for a MSE newbie - well not strictly true, i've been a lurker for a long time using the site for money saving tips and thought its about time I got more involved.

We're getting married on 22nd June and cant wait, so far all we have booked is the church and reception venue and i'm doing a stupid amount of research into everything else. My next big thing is to find the right photographer to capture our special moments, then its onto finding that perfect dress :-)

Its all getting very exciting and loving reading about everyone's money saving tips.

Ahhh lol sorry that was me thinking it was aimed at me!! Lol

Well I've just come back from the dress shop! I am one very happy bride to be!!! I have found 'the' dress!! My mum, aunt and bestrides maid all said the dress was made for me! It was £760 but we struck a deal of £600 inc veil, tiara and shoes!!!! My mum has agreed to pay £300 and so our costs have gone up £300 but wow!!!! I'm so happy right now!!

So Juners (that's what I'm calling us, get used to it! :D ), the month after next we'll be able to register our intent to marry.

I'm not sure when we're going to do ours. We've paid the deoposite and have the date booked, I thought of giving Notice in January, as I don't really have a lot else to do for our wedding I wanted something to look forward to, if we did that, then there really would be next to nothing left to do :rotfl:
Today we bought our favours - my fiance has finally made her mind up what she wanted and has agreed we will do scratchcards. Thinking we will scratch these off mid my speech and hopefully someone will get a decent win!

Do scratchcards last that long? I mean if you have a good win is there not a closing date for all claims to be made? It would be terrible to have a winner and the date passed.

At the moment we're designing our wedding stationary, but that's not going out until Christmas! Fiance is going to start dress shopping in June, so she's really excited for that! :D

ooo dress shopping is just the best. I was really lucky and just went to one shop, but there was a few of us, all drinking champers and eating nibbles, took a whole afternoon up and I loved every minute of it.

Also looking at our Honeymoon (fingers crossed, Hawaii!) but airlines don't release their fares until 12 months before ... so nothing set yet!

We too can't wait to start planning the honeymoon. Well I say 'we' but my H2B is sorting the honeymoon and I really don't want to know until we board the plane so i'm hoping it can be kept secret, but we'll see.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • Just a little update for people who might be thinking of booking their Honeymoons. Popped into Thompson yesterday after being told that the Summer 2013 brochures are now available and Thompson are now taking booking for June 2013 : )

After I got home yesterday I spent most of the night looking at possible Honeymoon destinations and as well as Thompson/First Choice I also noticed that Virgin & Thomas Cook are also coming back with prices for next June. They were about the only ones i could find offering prices for next year but still its a start and means I can get an idea of where to take my W2B on honeymoon. So far Varadero in Cuba is looking promising for our Budget. But there were so many other places that looked amazing that Im spoilt for choice. Anybody here know where they are going/would like to go on honeymoon?

Brilliant, cheers for the update really helpful. This is just gonna be a big distraction for me from doing anything I have to do now though :P

We aren't sure where we re gonna go, would love Maldives or Mauritius but it's veryyy pricey :( lol

also - 4jax, we are't buying the actual scratchcards til nearer the time :) Have just sat the money aside for them though so it's effectively done. I am sure they have an 80 day collection period or something... thanks for the headsup though :)

Just a little update for people who might be thinking of booking their Honeymoons...

Cuba, The Maldives and Mauritius all look amazing! We're hoping to go to Hawaii, but the brochures aren't out yet. A few moneysaving tips though; get loads of quotes for the same holiday and play travel agents off each other to lower the prices, then put the best in the "Beat My Quote" thread in the travel section in these forums to see if you can knock it down a bit more! If you can't get it any lower, try and get some excursions / hire car thrown in. A friend of mine got the best part of a grand knocked off their holiday doing this! :T

Also, Tesco Clubcard points can be quadrupled against Virgin holidays, but I'm not sure if you can do that if you've haggled them down a load! :rotfl:

goldenshilling, a suit hire update! Just wandered past Moss Bros (in Leeds) and saw they're offering a further 20% off each full suit hire (only on certain sets), that along with the "4 for the price of 5" they usually do. Seems like a pretty sweet deal and as I'm having 5 suits will save me about £80! Now it's a question of if I should gamble and wait for a better deal! Ha ha!
