    Hello again,
Had some inspiration for my centerpeices and have decided to go with wooden roses, done up in large bunches with ribbon - went to a carboot at the weekend and they were selling 8 wooden roses for 25p!!! so got lots and lots and lots in pink, purple/lilac and ivory (my colour scheme)! so add in some ribbon from ebay and 8 table vases I have already found for £4 at a previous carboot, I have centerpeices for under £10 :)
And just ordered an ivory rose guest book from bhs for about £1.40 (see the quick grabbit now board)
    Good day for money saving
Hope everyone elses plans are going well

  • Good money saving on the centerpieces....we havent got as far as looking at them yet, and to be honest think the OH will be in charge of that part...just ordered the ivory rose guest book though too...for only £1.37 if the OH doesnt like it at least its not breaking the bank.

Still feel like there is so much to do and trying to work out what to do first. We have arranged to meet up with some photographers on Friday so hopefully that will be one thing crossed off the list.
Thanks to all that post competitions :)

Well I have ordered three satin wraps for the day, they were 7.99 each, I'm pleased as I managed to get full length ones. I've got some iron on beads so will attempt the wording on them myself.

I also got a large martini glass off ebay for 10.99. I've been bidding on a few but my limit was 15 and they were going for 25! Anyway managed to get this one as it was listed in the wrong category:rotfl:

I also stumbled across a seller who didn't married so I got 36 wedding bubbles, table number holders and two silver heart necklaces.

I now have everything for my table centerpieces so when it all arrives in do a mock up one.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

I'm currently looking at making some gift bags for those staying in the hotel, things they might have forgotten.

I can't buy many things as not sure on shelf life - do travel deodorants and tooth past have a shelf life :rotfl:

But have found a few bits and pieces. I for one am loving having so long to plan, the cost is so minimal each month, that we hardly notice it. I think it helps we only really have the ceremony and party at night as the 'serious' money, so that money aside everything else is to 'play' with.

Great idea actually - very personal and hadn't thought of anything like that! Haha getting stuff to buy now that'll not go out of shelf date is a nightmare!

    Brilliant buy there!

One of the reasons we chose our venue was for ease - they provide us the dj, buffet, cars, flowers, centrepieces amongst a load of other things lol. Im always too laid back to get stressed out over centrepieces so leave that to my OH - but a venue that takes the stress out of things was a definite plus for me!

Hi all, can I join too? Getting married on 14th June 2013 - have booked venue and photographer. :j

Have a Humanist celebrant provisionally booked - just need to meet up with her to make sure we all get along. :D

Also bought my wedding dress and bridesmaid dress this week. Very early but saw a nice wedding dress in Debenhams which had 20% off. As I was buying my bridesmaid dress (only having my sister) as well I applied for the store card and got an extra 10% off, so got both for under £200. :j I will need to get straps added to my dress but that shouldn't cost too much. My mum is going to give me the money for both dresses as a gift. :T

Went to one wedding dress shop and the woman really put me off - she was very dismissive of me once I told her my budget was £500 at the very most. :o

That's the extent of my organisation so far, next thing to think about is the save the date cards.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.

Aw sorry to hear you had a bad experience in the dress shop - at least you managed to nab a good deal in Debenhams, saved yourself some cash and got yourself a dress you like :)

I've added you to the list in the first post by the way - so you are an official June 2013 B & G ;)

Thanks Allan_r  I've been lurking for a while but thought I should say hello.

The dress shop experience got worse - it was a vintage place and some of it was really not to my taste. The woman was all "just tell me if you don't like it, I won't be offended". Then got offended when I said one of the dresses she showed me looked like a nightie (it did!!). :rotfl: Oh dear.

74jax - sorry to hear about your smashed glass.

    How is everyone coming along.

I am now back at work after five months off and have only realized since being back, I have everything sorted for the wedding. It's quite strange but I keep trying to think of thinks to do.

Only thing I can think of is a photographer, but as we aren't bothered about one we are going to wait.

I received a lovely blown up copy of our reading for the wedding. We are having it framed for the nighttime so people can have a laugh and share something from the service.

This weekend, because I wanted to do something wedding-y I ironed on the embellishments to the satin wraps I bought. I am really pleased. I think they look much more expensive than they were.

  • 74jax your making me feel really under prepared....we have managed to pay the deposit on the venue and photographer, bought the wedding dress and booked the registar but apart from that we havent done anything else....it feels like its so far away and that we have so much time but Im sure that it will fly by so think we may have to start getting a move on!
